| Posted: | | | | I came across a few covers with misspellings or words used wrongly and I copied the overview exactly as it was on the cover. I don't think we should "proof-read" covers. Still, I wonder, should I call attention to the fact that the "mistake" (or what someone would consider a mistake) was in the original text, so that others will not try to amend it? What about a standard indication, for instance [so written] in square brackets, or, to use a Latin word that stays the same in many languages... [sic!]? | | | -- Enry |

Otherwise, all that's being said in favor of keeping the error applies to any mark up as well. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | And there we go again with the typical skipnet reply . Personal opinion: I know the rules say to copy the text including typos, but some typos are so silly that I think it's just a stupid rule. But in any case, let's not start adding markup such as [sic] ! |

| Posted: | | | | I think the cover text should be authentic. Even if there are misspellings the text should be copied exactly without any comments. The corrected text and/or interpretations of this can be placed in the notice section! | | | Thorsten | | | Last edited: by kahless |

| Posted: | | | | Why should I want to correct or mark errors in DVD Profiler? It's not that the errors on the cover itself will disappear along with it. If they (the errors) are there it's unfortunate, but a perfect world does not exist, we aren't and I think the DVD Profiler program will never be as well. So we just have to live with it. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

If we allow 'corrections' we then get into a 'where we draw the line' scenario (like what to do where the overview is entirely written about the wrong film!); doing it always as written there's no judgement, just right or wrong. FWIW I tend to point out spelling errors copied from an overview in my submission notes; they're always available to be checked in future if someone sees a 'mistake' and wonders whether to correct it. I certainly don't think we should be adding any [ ] type markup which again takes it away from 'as credited' | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
