| Posted: | | | | There is a new contribution for the region 1 profile of this movie, where the contributor wants to change the Title from "Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles" to simply "Interview with the Vampire", stating the following: Quote: Three times on the back cover, it is simply referred to as "Interview with a Vampire", including the back credit block. The spine also simply says "Interview with a Vampire". It's got several Yes votes, and only 1 No vote (mine). 2 of the Yes votes comment "Per the new rules this is correct" and "Correct per updated rules." I bought this DVD (a snapper originally) when it was first released. -The front cover says: "Interview with the Vampire" and then "The Vampire Chronicles" beneath. -The spine says: "Interview with the Vampire" and then "The Vampire Chronicles" beneath. -The opening credits say: "Interview with the Vampire" and then "The Vampire Chronicles" beneath. http://img151.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=52248_inter_122_872lo.jpgHow on earth does is this new contribution "correct per updated rules"? The rules clearly say: Quote: Use the title from the front cover. | | | Last edited: by Behemot |

| Posted: | | | | It also says "Tom Cruise" above the title on the front cover - is that part of the title too? |

Some people just have to be pedantic or feign iddiocy. Personally I would agree with your asseessment. However, the Copyrighted title is Interview with the Vampire.

I just thought I'd pose the question here in the forums, since we seem to disagree about this contribution. Sorry, I was trying to be funny. Tom Cruise's name is actually bigger than The Vampire Chronicles, so that shows we can't even go by font size comparisons mentioned in the rules. The front cover conflicts with the spine and the back, so I looked to the title within quotes on the back cover. We should be calling these movies what the majority of the world is calling them. If you want to go further, you can check any retailer site and it's simply "Interview with the Vampire". When the average Joe (or Lestat) on the street is talking about this movie, what do they call it? | | | Last edited: by Doombear |

| Posted: | | | | Actually, the spine says "Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles" - at least on my snapper cover, which is the original release.
Anyway, the rules clearly say to take the title from the front cover. The opening credits also say "Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles", btw. | | | Last edited: by Behemot |

| Posted: | | | | I don't have the disc onhand to check the title screen right now. I also forgot that my spine is a custom printout (not pirated but in the interest of snapper-to-keepcase conversion), so might not necessarily match the actual retail spine.
If anybody could also confirm or be able to post a scan of the actual spine and a shot of the main title screen, I'll happily withdraw my contribution. | | | Last edited: by Doombear |

Quote: Use the title from the front cover. These people seem to be applying the 'possessives' clarification to all titles. While I can understand it, it is not supported by the rules...at least not in my opinion. | Posted: | | | | Looking at just the front cover 'Interview with the Vampire' is in the biggest bolded text so it is pretty obvious what the title is, but then you go and look at the credit block in the back and it says "Interview with the Vampire" in quotes. Per rules this is correct. I don't see how you can vote no to that...seems pretty obvious to me. | | | Last edited: by Bodi |

If you don't have the tiltle in hand, then exactly WHAT are you basing your Contribution on. Behemot has already told you what is on the spine and On Screen.

Skip He said he didn't have the "disc onhand to check the title screen right now..." I am guessing that he is not at the location his DVD is. Perhaps he is at work? | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Except that you are applying a part of the rules regarding possessives to a title that does not contain any possessives. The credit block doesn't come into play here. The very first line of the Title Rules says "Use the title from the front cover." that's what i put in the Vote No field when i voted. If it's on the front cover and it's on the title screen, it's a subtitle and should be include. do we delete Fellowship of the Rings because it comes on separate screen from Lord of the Rings in the movie and is printed in considerably smaller text on the front cover of the dvd? i don't think so. krik | | | "Vampirism is still not a disease, Julia.
