| Posted: | | | | Dear all,
DVD profiler is a very useful way to manage my collection of DVD's. The only feature I am still missing, is a play function (or link). Since most of my DVD's have been backed up on my computer, I would like the possibility to (automatically) play a certain movie stored on my computer after choosing it out of the DVD database.
Would it be possible to create a link or uploadtool so that your DVD database can be linked to the movies stored on your computer.
Best regards tim |

Skip Plug-Ins won't work, since Tim is an unregistered user. Plugins are one of the serveral benefits of becoming regiistered. Getting all that function on top of the already amazing DVDPro for only $30 - wow!!!!! Edit: Also see the Layouts Forum for ways to use HTML pages for this - you can do some cool stuff. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. He doesn't appear to have registered to me? Then why does it say, "Registered: February 21, 2008" below his user id? |

| Posted: | | | | thats just when he signed up to the forums. When you register the program you get the 'eye' icon next to your name, and if you also have the mobile, you have the mobile icon as well

Now that we got that settled, Refocusing on what the user needs: The answer is "yes", in one or both of two ways: (1) Plugins (see the downloads page) (2) HTML sections - see the Layouts Forum If you Register your copy of DVDProfiler (thereby becoming a "paid registrant" of the Forums, you may use either of those methods for an unlimited number of DVDs, otherwise they are both limited to collections of 50 DVDs or less. See here for the official comparison. No need to rehash them in this thread. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! Can you please explain to me how the plug-in Loaddvd works. Is is possible to link a stored avi file on my computer to a DVD in the database so that it would automatically play.
I am looking for a dvd database with this feature and dvd profiler has a very nice design/functionality but I want to be sure this function is included as well.

| Posted: | | | | It's not included as part of the application itself but there are workarounds where you can achieve the functionality. |

Greetz Please be so kind as to refer to the LoadDVD thread in the Plugins Forum and also the Layouts Forum. I, and others have invested time putting the information there. If, after reading those pages, you still have questions, you can post your question in the appropriate thread. Thanks - looking forward to having you on board! | | | Thanks for your support. Greetz Hi trailertrash, I have all my DVDs backed up on hard drives too. Note, before anyone starts jumping to conclusions I learned long ago it's cheaper to buy DVDs than to rent them in some cases. I simply used the HTML windows it allows you to create and changed the titles to clickable links that are pointed to playlist. I keep all the play list in one location and they point to the actual movies on all the different drives. Here is an example of the code I use,{<p align="CENTER"><font face="HeartOfStone"><font size="+4"><a href="file://J:\DVD Playlist\<DP NAME="TITLE">.m3u"><DP NAME="TITLE"></p>} I'm by no means a programmer so it may not be properly formatted code, but it works. As you can see in my screen shot I have links on both the second and third monitors. This is because I use VLC media player for playback. VLC opens from file association and you only need point to the folder the movie files are in, not the files themselves. The playlist points to {K:\Almost Famous, Untitled Bootleg Cut\UNTITLED} all the movie pieces are in the "UNTITLED" (actual name of the movie) folder, not the "VIDEO_TS" you normally see, although it could be if you wanted. Set the options in VLC to "video not contained in gui" and "play full screen". Here's the great part, I added the windows on the third screen because VLC will open and play full screen on which ever monitor you click the link on. I have a video projector attached to that computer, when it's off the third monitor is the third monitor. When the projectors on it becomes the third monitor, so click on that link and that's where the movie plays. Now the hard part, by default one of the huge annoyances with Internet Explorer is it wont open files on the local machine. There was a guide on the Microsoft help site that explained how to fix that with a registry change but I can't find it again. DVD Pro's HTML windows are opened in IE so this is a major issue. If you can't get the registry changed the links won't work. Hope this helps, if your interested let me know and I'll send you a copy of the script I use to automatically create the .m3u file when I add a new DVD to DVD Profiler. Also, if your interested, I'll give you instructions on how to use a normal remote to search through and start the movies in DVD Profiler and then control the movie in VLC just as you would a normal DVD player. Good luck, Rich |

| Posted: | | | | @specter333, good job! Earned a nice plus from me. I learned a lot.
Why not go ahead and post that info about using a remote control? Sounds cool.
By the way, I'm trying to understand this comment: "... one of the huge annoyances with Internet Explorer is it wont open files on the local machine." Somehow I thought I did that all the time ... what am I missing here? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!!
