| Posted: | | | | Holy sh|t, Van Ling sure has raised the bar for what can be done with Blu-Ray.
One can only wish that other companies can find the time and money to let someone as dedicated as Van Ling work on their releases. I seriously doubt that we'll see many discs with these kind of features, but it's sure nice that it's possible. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Holy crap! That's awesome (and I've only watched the first one so far). I had no interest in picking this title up since I'm satisified with my current DVD. But after seeing that, it would almost be worth the money just to play with the disc. I've been saying for a long time that the current crop of online features are rather lame (on both HD DVD and Blu-ray) and I've been hearing other people say ththe same thing. But I know given enough time, someone somewhere will eventually find that killer app for online content. Van might just be the guy to do so. I truly believe that it's not that there aren't good things to do with online material, it's just that no one has had the time yet to think out of the box. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | The keyword searching is just awesome. Imagine something like that on the Planet Earth discs? And I really like the production note popups as I always find stuff like that interesting and to have it displaying during the scene in question is pretty cool.
I'll be interested to see how many BD players (other then the PS3, of course) will be able to play that disc, though. I'm fairly certain mine will choke on all that java, but I'll by picking it up anyway just to try it out. Samsung finally just released a firmware update to fix Sunshine so that it plays, but they somehow managed to introduce a new bug that disables the ethernet port. So still no Sunshine for me until they fix that. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

| Posted: | | | | I watched the other two videos. His work is still impressive, but to be honest, I don't think I'd ever play the game. It's neat and all, but if I want to play a game, there are tons of better games out there that don't require ID4 to be playing back. But I did enjoy seeing something new for a change.
I don't think I'd use the popup commentary either. Trivia tracks are one of my most hated bonus features. I despise the fact that you have to watch the movie all over again to get that information. And since you're reading all the popup stuff, you're not really watching the movie anyway. I have better things to do with my time than spend 2 hours reading 20 minutes with of trivia. Of the three videos, I also thought this was the smallest step forward since it's just a fancy version of what we already have on DVD.
Still, it's very exciting to see examples of someone trying to push the boundries. I'm hoping that he's just scratched the surface and we have some truly unique and interesting bonus material a few years from now. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | Here's a link to a story on what Disney is doing with "Enchanted". A bonus feature called "D-Files". Note that it might not be your cup of tea, but, it does sound interesting none-the-less. Click on this link right here. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | I played the Alien Scavenger Hunt.. It's not bad, but I doublt I'd play it again.
The popup trivia deal isn't too bad. For the person that said it would be hard to read... not at all. Very clear, although, I don't like the font they used for it.
On another note, I also purchased I, Robot. The back of the case lists the use of the Blu-ray remote color buttons...
Red Button - Behind the camera - Day Out of Days Production Diaries - CGI and Design Featurettes - Sentient Machines - Robotic Behavior - The Filmmaker's Toolbox - VFX how-to Clips - Deleted Scenes and Alternate Ending
Green Button - Commentary Guide - 3 Full-length Commentaries - Hear Director Alex Proyas, Screenwriter Akiva Goldsmith and more
Yellow Button - Annotated Guide - Trivia Track
Blue Button - Search Index - Explore all the disc has to offer
Will comment more on these as I use them | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |
