| Posted: | | | | This is what I wrote in the contribution rule forum. As it has a restricted access, I want everybody know why I leave those forums, at least for some times. Quoting surfeur51: Quote: Quoting Unicus69:
Quote:
"For all you know, those people will simply ignore the data as it does not harm to keep it in the profile...I know that is what I do with the data I don't care about."
See, when taken in context, it is clear that I am not claiming to know anything. Quite the contrary, in fact. I understand why you did it...sad when you think about it...without taking my post out of context you couldn't play your little game. Once again, and at the risk of a red arrow and a scolding from north, I am not surprised.
This is too much, adding your "For all you know", doesn't change anything to what you say, at least when I translate it in french.
I'm fed up with your teacher's attitude that wants to give lessons to everybody here. You are tyrannic, obtuse, and never try to admit other's opinions. You throw and red arrows but whine as a spoiled brat when you get some, accusing people to send you without knowing from who they come. That's why I think people must have had a bad life in the forum you moderated.
As for me, you make me leave those forums, at least for some time. I don't say I'll never come back, and I'll certainly not delete anything here. But, I'll take some nice time with my program and watching my DVDs, and stop trying to make things improve. My only regret is that I I know I will please you doing that, improvement of something that is "perfect" for you (knowing that you violate without any remorse anything that doesn't please you) being a wrong attitude in your narrow mind.
Have a good time with your friend Skip, making this place the most unfriendly possible...

| Posted: | | | | Sorry to see you go Surfeur. For what it's worth, I agree with you wholeheartedly on the reasons for you leaving. This is why my posting has slowed down to a crawl. From time to time I lurk to get new information about plugins or whatnot, but it's rare that I post in threads anymore and I don't see that changing. Too much verbal abuse from narrow minded individuals going on. And I haven't even been targeted personally, it just annoys me to see a bunch of bullies having the run of the place.

| Posted: | | | | It's a two-way street, dude. Just as many people have gotten angry and left because of some of the stuff you (and those who support you) have done as have left for the reasons you post... including me.
Everybody needs to grow a thicker skin and learn to leave their egos at the door. It also wouldn't hurt if many people here would learn the difference between their personal database and the online database. That would eliminate a lot of arguments and hurt feelings right there. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | Very well said, joh and absolutely correct. My own Contributions are WAAAAAAY below where they used to be and should be for exactly the reasons highlighted by surfeur, and since he launched a totally UNPROPVOKED on myself, let me state that my rsons are because of HIS behavior and those of SOME other users who believe they know far more than they really do.
For Martin, I have said exactly what you said for a long time, not that you or others have shown any inclination to listen. Like John, said it is a two way street.

| Posted: | | | | I believe that Surfeurs skin had been thick enough for quite a long time. Personal attacks of the worst kinds came unto him, sometimes even without any provocation of him at all (especially in recent times). Sorry to see you leave. Hope you'll be back soon | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Sorry to see you (or anybody that is making a contribution) go. This is something that I have no aptitude or desire to do. I only do plugins. But I realize how important the database and contributions are to the unique resourse that DVD Profiler provides. I can't say I understand all the issues with contributions, or why those issues cause so much personal animosity sometimes, but I do know that the end result is something that we all appreciate - the quality database. So, take a breather, regather your resolve, and come back soon! | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! Personal attacks of the worst kinds came unto him I very much agree. But beyond that, I fail to see why a thick skin is something that should be required. Why people can't just be civil towards one another is beyond me. It simply makes for an unpleasant atmosphere, and I for one fully understand why people might be turned off by the constant bickering and animosity that goes on here. If this was a political or religious forum it would be understandable, if not condonable, but all we're doing here is talking about a hobby we all share. As such I would assume discussions would be pretty lighthearted. Yet the tiniest topic can bring out all kinds of heated arguments, attacks and defamations. I don't get it. At first I just tried to ignore it and participate anyway, but it got tiresome very quickly. I think I found a good balance though, I visit once a week or so, check the Announcements and Plugins and other stuff like the headshot thread, maybe vote on a couple of submissions, and that's it. That way I can still get the latest news and developments without the annoyance. Then I just get my movie and DVD discussion fix in other forums. KM I agree. It should not be a requirement that we grow thick skins to view this forum! | | | Paul |

I agree.
It should not be a requirement that we grow thick skins to view this forum! Add another one to the agree column. I've been a member of these forums for quite a few years now. The personal attacks here are some of the worst I've seen in all of the various forums I visit. And unfortunately, it's often those that take the most offense at a perceived personal attack that are the worst offenders. I've become much more of a lurker here because this. I would love to participate more, but in most cases, I start typing my response and within a few sentences I give up knowing that what I say will likely fall on deaf ears and that it will devolve into a personal attack of some sort. I'm not looking to start any arguments here, just stating what I see and what I've experienced. Hope to see you back soon surfeur51. |

| Posted: | | | | At the risk of a red arrow, I have to say that I am amazed. You guys are acting like surfeur51 was the most reasonable guy and never attacked or insulted anybody. In this case, he made some claims and I called him on them. He responded by quoting one of my posts, editing out the first part of the sentence...so as to change the meaning...in order to call me a hypocrite. That is something he has done quite a few times. My response, part of which he included above, was to explain the meaning of my post...with the omited words reinstated. Was I nice about it? No but, as I just said, that has to do with the fact that he has done this before. Did I insult him or call him names? No. Surfeur51 and I do not have a friendly relationship. But I have never attacked him, the way he attacked me in the post above. I make one snide remark to him and I get 3 red arrows and a scolding from northbloke. Surfeur51 insults and calls me names, and he is treated like the victim. As I said, I am amazed. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Thanks to the person who gave me the red arrow I expected. You just confirmed my suspision that there is a double standard in these forums. And yes, I fully expect another one for this post as well. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. It might not be that he received reds but just didn't get enough green to keep it there. |
