| Posted: | | | | Topic seems a bit vague and probably handled before in other posts., BUT with Invelos Profiler having every single detail shown (to an apostrophe) included in its many submissions there is an area of total neglect that should be added and hopefully fulfilled for the next version of Profiler 4.0 . and that is the inclusion of the name of the audio commentator . Case in point., Casablanca has two audio commentaries,, both by prestigious gentlemen Roger Ebert and Rudy Behlmer.,, or there or numerous major titles with its own director or cast members doing commentaries as well.. Wouldn't it garnish a vast improvement to this software by distinguishing on which titles these names belong?? we could have some sort of divider in the crew section,. as it is the 'crew' that puts these commentaries on the DVD.. ( think.. The Goonies.. ) yet there is no such activity. If you had to, without googling, find Billy Crystal's commentaries on his DVDs.., would you resort to reading the back of each jacket or search the special features on each of his DVD menu's to find such information??????? Now I know that we'll most likely get a lot of yeahs and Yes agreements.., But can we campaign for this in a future wish list for ken and others to consider??? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | Interesting approach. I asked for the addition of commentary infos in 2007 with a different model of integrating these infos into DVD Profiler. http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=174903While I think that the crew-section is already a bit bloated, your idea would have the advance of searching for commentaries of a person though. | | | Last edited: by SpaceFreakMicha |

Now I know that we'll most likely get a lot of yeahs and Yes agreements.. I personally do not see any interest in this sort of data. We have already too many crew roles, and after that, we'll have users who will request for "making of" credits or names of interviewers. The more names, the more problems of common names, linking... When all problems with normal cast will be solved, it will be time to see something else. Waiting for that... | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | I do not listen to commentaries. Never have, never will. I want to watch the film and hear the dialogue. If I wanted to listen to someone talk during the movie, I would go to my local theater at 8 o'clock on a Friday night. This is a feature that I just don't understand. That being said, I don't have any objection to it being added. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | For those not interested in listening to the commentaries, draws about as much steam as those have no seperate audio componants have no interest in DTS or dolby surround.. .. Or have no Hi Def TV and not interested in aspect ratio's 16 x 9 ... BUT I have added these names in the crew section and then put them under 'Other' and then in the box provided: typed in "Commentary" .. but these can't be submitted as contribuitons though can they??? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. but these can't be submitted as contribuitons though can they??? No as they are not part of the crew. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. For contribution purposes, the program ignores 'other'. Unfortunately, unless something has changed, it also ignores it when downloading an update and they will get deleted. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. That being said, I don't have any objection to it being added. Understood,, but in my house I may bring in a film that we have seen a hundred times in the past 30 years.., But to invite Francis Ford Coppola over to your house and sit with you in your living room and tell you first hand how he managed the shots he did,, or the lighting problems that popped up in this scene.., or the day the actor was belligerent on that day in the heat... is a Godsend in my house.. You don't feel as passionate about films , and their creativity as most others do then?? (BTW when I bring over the cast and crew to my house for a film night, they are real cheap to feed..) | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. The Commentaries I have really listened to I have never heard any crew data. The participants are identified, but they are usually identified on the Cover and the Menus as well. I think we need better definition in the world of Features, so that we can spell out what the various Featurettes are, or the Trailers and so on, there may even be those who might want to identify the various Chapters where such information is provided.<shrugs> But that seems a more appropriate place for this data than adding them to the film Cast and Crew.

| Posted: | | | | Perhaps a better way of recording this would be to add a tickbox to the cast/crew entry. So as well as having "voice" and "uncredited" you have a "supplies commentary" tickbox. That way when you open the cast info window, as well as seeing all the films you have that Francis has directed you'll also see the ones he's supplied a commentary for without the need for a separate crew entry. The only downside I can think of is that there would still be no way of recording commentaries by people who weren't involved in the film. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Skip that I would like to see the Features section upgraded to supply this sort of information... but I must admit I do like northbloke's idea of a checkbox for "supplies Commentary". | | | Pete |

You don't feel as passionate about films , and their creativity as most others do then?? When I sit down to watch a movie, no matter how many times I have seen it, I want to enjoy the movie. For all that other stuff you mentioned, well, that's why they have 'making of' and 'behind the scenes' featurettes. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I like the idea of being able to easily find out:
a) Who did a commentary on a particular movie, and b) What movies a particular person has done commentaries on
But I don't like the idea of putting it into the crew section, I'd much prefer some kind of alternate solution. Putting it into the crew section is misleading since the people involved with a commentary may not have been involved in the making of the movie itself.

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Astrakan. As Skip and Pete have argued, the Features section seems the most appropriate place for an alternate solution. |
