My Thoughts:
This is one of the movies that I got in that cheap Mills Creek 100 Classic Horror Movies boxset. So naturally I went into this one with extremely low expectations. The only reason  I decided to watch this one today is that it stars Louise Fletcher in the title role and today (July 22nd) is her 77th birthday. Which means she made this movie when she was 46. So while expecting the worst... I couldn't help but to watch this today.

I am not surprised... but I couldn't even make it all the way through this one! A couple of times I thought it would catch my interest to only get unbearably ignorant. This being a Mill Creek release I wasn't expecting much quality wise as well. But this one wasn't too bad there... felt like I was watching an old VHS tape. Oh well I gave it a shot... do not bother with this one!

My Thoughts:
This is another movie out of the 100 Classic Horror Movies boxset that I have. I was a little cautious about going into this one. I have heard some good things... as well as some things that were not so good. I personally found it entertaining, though a little strange. I also found it to be a bit on the slow side. Almost felt longer then it had to be to tell the story. But over all I found it to be worth watching. a nice addition to my silent movie collection.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie that is on a Triple Feature DVD called Gritty Horror Tales. I got this disc in a box of DVDs that a friend gave me. This movie has several familiar faces in it. Of course Kane Hodder who played Jason Vorhees in several of the Friday the 13th movies. Then there is Danica McKellar Who I am sure a lot of people would remember as Winnie Cooper on Wonder Years. any fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer knows the name Juliet Landau... she of course played the absolutely crazy vampire Drusilla. And finally there is Burt Young who played Paulie in all the Rocky movies.

Watching this one... I was loving every minute of it. I was enjoying the storyline... loving all the horror film references... and it has some pretty decent killings/gore. Being such a lover of all things horror as I am.... I didn't think this was possible... but they crammed so many film references into this one that it just plain became too much. So much so that it just couldn't help but effect my rating. I still feel I enjoyed it quite a bit... but in this case a little less would have been more. I realize this was one of the main points of the storyline... but it got to the point that almost every killing and every other thing coming out of someone's mouth was a film reference. By the time I got to the last half hour of the movies I was thinking... Come on! Enough is enough! Other then that one problem though... I enjoyed it quite a bit.

My Thoughts:
After watching the first part I figured I may as well watch part two as well and get this DVD complete out of my unwatched pile. This one I didn't care for quite as much as the first one. That could be because I didn't care for the one character in this one. The guy that went with them to search for Nicole and Jess... driving his own car. Other then that... not a bad movie. Like the first one... this one has a bit of decent gore... but not a whole lot. There is one alternate ending this time... which is not bad... but think they went with the right one once again. Over all.... nothing really great here... just an average horror movie.

My Thoughts:
This is a DVD that my brother got off Netflix. I have seen the commercial for it... and was a bit curios about checking out the movie. Some reason I didn't realize from the commercial that Nicole Kidman is in this movie. But I she was only in the scenes where they are in Hawaii... so she may not have even been in the trailer. I really don't remember. This turned out to be a right good romantic comedy... I definitely enjoyed it. Even though I seen the ending coming a mile a way. But watching them get to that point was entertaining. Definitely worth checking out... I can see myself adding this one to my collection at some point.

- I Love Lucy:  The Movie
In 1953 with the TV show being so successful, Desilu decided to create a theatrical movie by stitching together three episodes from the first season (The Benefit, Breaking the Lease, and The Ballet.)  Some extra material was filmed to join the episodes together and an intro was created. The movie was never released, since studio execs thought it would hurt the box office results of Lucy and Desi's film The Long, Long, Trailer, which was in release at the time.  Shelved, the movie was forgotten until it was discovered 50 year later.

The first time Desi and Lucy appeared on TV together was as guests on The Ed Wynn show  in 1949.

My Thoughts:

The Packaging:
The first thing you notice about this set is how it is packaged. Which while it is a fun thing... you don't feel too confident that the disc themselves are safe the way they are stored. Being in a multiple disc cardboard envelope I worry about the possibility of the discs getting scratched. I really like the good hard outer box... but instead of those accordion style cardboard envelopes... I would of preferred something more like THINpak cases for the discs protection. No I haven't had any problems with these discs. But I do worry a bit and feel the need to be extra careful.

The Show:
This sitcom really is a timeless classic. I absolutely loved the seasons 1-6. These were the original concept I Love Lucy half hour episodes. There was many... many episodes that I literally laughed out loud watching. To many great, hilarious moments to even attempt to list here. Though I will mention one of my favorite episodes being where Superman comes to Little Ricky's Birthday Party.

When the show went to hour length and named changed to the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour I felt  it went a bit downhill. I don't really feel that it could handle the hour long format as well as it did the half hour format. Sure I still enjoyed it. But it just seemed to lose some of the charm it had in the half hour version.

One thing this series became famous for is getting big named guest stars... most the time playing themselves. Some of the big names that showed up in this series includes....

Final Thoughts:

Over-all this is an excellent release for a great classic sitcom. I bought this series back in May of 2009... as I bought it as an early birthday present to myself. It took me till today to finish watching all the episodes. And there is still a ton of extras I still have to watch. The quality of the episodes looks great. though a couple of the extra I looked at could have used some more cleaning up. But this is a set I definitely would recommend if you were a fan of this series.

Probably because the retail price of the set hasn't come down (much?) in the last 2 years? just a guess of course. But like you said... love the show... and it is a great set full of extras. Packaging could have been better though.

My Thoughts:
After enjoying the first one as much as I did... I wanted to go ahead and watch part 2. Knowing ahead of time not to expect as much from it as the first one. And it isn't as good as the first one. But it is better then I was expecting going by reviews I have read. Even the trailer didn't look as promising. But when it came down to it I enjoyed it enough to say it was worth watching. Sure the storyline is much more silly. But it is also more of the same stuff I enjoyed about the first one. This one also has many more familiar faces then the first one did. I especially enjoyed seeing Mary Lynn Rajskub who was one of my favorites in 24. Then there was also Bob Newhart as a doorman that helped Elle through-out the movie. And also James Read who played Elle's father in both the movies. I know him from Charmed where he played the The Charmed Ones' father. While I can see why people didn't care for this one nearly as much... I am glad I have it in my collection to go along with part 1. I probably won't watch it as often as the first one... but I can see myself watching it again.
