- Did you try the free client application that comes with HTTPJolie?

Not sure what the free client application is, but I downloaded the latest version, 1.21, and had it running with the settings as suggested and never could get OverviewCheckPlus to recognize that it was running. What address should I have pinged?

After removing HTTPJolie this morning my DVDP started working faster. I haven't tried the repair tool yet because ever since HTTPJolie, it takes a very very long time to run. Somewhere between 2-1/2 and 3-1/2 hours. Needless to say, I don't run that until I will be away from the computer for a long time. It used to run in well under an hour.

OverviewCheck3 runs just fine. I just would like to have used the latest version.

Well I tried. In addition to forum instructions, I have tutorial videos and documentation. We developers can never seem to do enough! 

Anyway, the client application is cleverly hidden in the install directory of HTTPJolie. It is called: "HTTPJolieSampleClient.exe".

There are sample commands built in, that automatically use your IP address and port settings.

To use a browser, type the following into the URL field of any browser in your network, even your phone:

http://192.168.1.182:41395/?cmd="ping"

If HTTPJolie is enabled and running, you should get an answer back.

Additional documentation is available on the first page of the HTTPJolie thread in the Plugins forum.

By the way, what is this 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hour delay you are attributing to HTTPJolie??? I have no idea what could be causing that.

Hey guys I think lightning just struck! Yesterday I had a weird system crash that totally hosed DVD Profiler settings. Took a few of my magic tricks to get back going, but it seems I lost no data - just settings.

Well, wouldn't you know that suddenly, my TCP port for HTTPJolie no longer works, which would lead to exactly the problem mreeder50 is having: everthing but TCP working, leading to Gunnar's tools not being able to connect.

The problem seems to be that in my search for valid IP addresses, as usual, I find both the enabled wired ethernet port and a "HyperV" address. Usually, both HTTP and TCP get setup on the same IP address, but in this case, the TCP port got attached to the HyperV IP address. And it worked!

So, until I figure out how to know which address to pick (maybe it has to be a user setting), check your list of server addresses, and if you have more than one in the list I present, try them all. The TCP port may be attached to a different IP address than the HTTP port.

In my case, the address started with a "172."

Good point, mediadogg.

I have never used Hyper-V myself, but I guess that one could get the same problem in my tools. I try to determine the local IP address to use as the default IP address in the configuration. But I have no idea what would happen if something like Hyper-V was running. It might well confuse my algorithm, too.

But in Marty's case it seems it got the correct IP address.

I'm afraid I still don't fully understand. I assume you mentioned this issue because you think it is a problem, and expect for it to be resolved by the  developer. I am attempting to step up to that, but you have a responsibility to help me understand. What "things"" no longer run well? Please be specific. What possible impact could an uninstalled plugin have on a process that runs while DVD Profiler is not running (I assume "rebuilding the database" = database repair)? I don't understand what you are talking about. What does database repair time have to do with a plugin?

This is not a complaint or an expectation on my part. I am just mentioning the slowdown because it has happened. I also can't get HTTPJolie to be recognized by OverviewCheckPlus so there is no point to my running HTTPJolie.

Again, just mentioning what is going on without expectation. Yes, "rebuilding the database" = database repair. It ran much faster before HTTPJolie. I'm OK with it though because I just fire it up when I am going to be away from the computer for at least 2 hours or more.

So, you are not using HTTPJolie, and somehow you are asserting that it is related to a problem you are having with DVD Profiler database repair. First of all, why are you running DB repair so often? And what else were you doing on your computer before the slowdown? I request that you tell us those things, because they also happened before the slowdown. What is the reason you have decided to only mention HTTPJolie as the possible reason for your problems?

OverviewCheckPlus 1.0.1

I seem to have used a command in HTTPJolie a bit incorrectly, using a "hole" that the latest version has plugged. I should have read the command syntax better. Mea culpa!

Note to all: Gunnar and I have been working trying to fix bugs in HTTPJolie relating to connectivity and installation. I would appreciate if someone else is willing to give the resulting version a test before it is released. If so, please send me a PM.
The new version:

- Still requires Profiler elevated for HTTP
- Does not require elevation for TCP, but TCP also runs elevated
- Bug fixed that causes an exception when closing Profiler or disabling the plugin

- The firewall port setting code has been removed, and instead included as a menu option in the Sample Client, which has also been updated with bug fixes

Notice to all:

- The default HTTP port for HTTPJolie is 41395 (which can be changed)
- The TCP port is set to HTTP port + 20. hence 41415 by default.
- The UDP port is set to HTTP port + 10 hence 41405 by default.

GSyren tools, to date, have always used the TCP port.
