| Posted: | | | | I don't think you guys realize... iPod notes has a 100 entry limit... that means for me to export as xml and convert to iPod notes is a pain in the ass I have to break up my collection in 100 entry increments save them as separate files, and then upload them to my iPod... that blows, because oh wait, i buy movies every day... so every day I would have to do this as opposed to just export to iPod notes. The other program I found literally detects your iPod exports the notes and uploads directly to your mp3 player. No hassle, and I can do it everyday with ease... stop trying to find a workaround for things, and realize this is a feature request section... not a What hair-brained method can I use to make this work section... save the Macguyver crap for the help/troubleshooting sections. | | | _________________________________________________________________________ "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of the women!" |

And keep up that attitude and the programers will simply fall over each other to create that plug-in. Quote: not a What hair-brained method can I use to make this work section... save the Macguyver crap for the help/troubleshooting sections. Well, the MacGuyver-stuff works. So, what do you want: a) a working solution now, even if it needs some handcrafting, or b) sitting on your hands and wait for a day that may never come? cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | Look, I posted here for a "FEATURE" request, not a "please hand me a workaround request" I'm not looking for a workaround, or a 10 step program.
That sort of stuff belongs elsewhere, this is a feature request category, hence why I request a feature.
Next time if I request a workaround, I'll be sure to put that in the subject.
For this however, I think I would like a feature.
I would much rather wait for the feature, since I don't like wasting my time cutting and pasting every time I buy a new movie.
BY THE WAY... you're wrong, it DOES NOT work becuase like I said before, the ipod notes section can only handle 100 entries per section, which means if you have over 100 movies, you have to make seperate documents just to get it to show up correctly. I have over 1000 dvds, that would take me a while to cut and paste and save over 10 documents to import them, on top of that, if I bought a new dvd tomorrow, I would have to shift all my documents to make room for the new movie.... hmmm unless I did them out of order, but that would defeat the purpose of keeping track of dvds, since there is no search function on an IPOD...
So the next time you get so high and mighty, please read all the posts carefully then reply.
I already stated that it does not work, and I wish this post to remain as a feature request, becuase there are those of us that would really benefit from such a SIMPLE addition.
Yes I say simple, becuase I'm challenging you since you're soo smart. | | | _________________________________________________________________________ "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of the women!" |

Just because people post a workaround doesn't stop this being a feature request. If you don't want to use the workaround that's fine. Doesn't mean you have to attack people, a simple I'd rather not use the workaround and wait to see if Ken implements it is enough. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | If you read back, I said that already, i said it months ago, I simply stated that is fine, but it won't work because... blah blah blah, then more and more people kept dismissing this as a valid feature because there is a "working" workaround,.... when in fact it DOESN"T WORK.
That's my point, and discussion ended. | | | _________________________________________________________________________ "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of the women!" |

That's my point, and discussion ended. Nobody has said this isn't a valid feature request, and you're first post stating the workaround doesn't work contained this: Quote:
not a What hair-brained method can I use to make this work section... save the Macguyver crap for the help/troubleshooting sections. So I'm happy to end the discussion. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

That's my point, and discussion ended. Loose the attitude, sonny. You'll get a lot further in these forums if you don't attack people who are only trying to help. And since it seems to have escaped your attention, while this is a Feature Request forum, anyone can post to it. Just because Ken doesn't jump right up and code the program to your specifications, that doesn't mean people don't have a right to try and help you with a workaround. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? Just because Ken doesn't jump right up and code the program to your specifications, that doesn't mean people don't have a right to try and help you with a workaround. I NEVER asked ken to jump to anything, so again you're falling into the same trend as everyone else... PLEASE STOP HARRASING me on this topic, people posted a workaround, that was impractical, I left it at that, then I come back months later, to find someone copping an attitude with me about being frustrated with people trying to push a crappy workaround on me when I keep saying that's not going to work the way it should. So I cop an attitude back, becuase that's in my nature, now that that is out of the way, people can stop arguing. Thanks for listening. There is no need to comment further on this topic unless you know a way to make this work PROPERLY. | | | _________________________________________________________________________ "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of the women!" |

Quote: That's my point, and discussion ended. Oops. no it wasn't a practical solution, it is too complicated to split up the documents into separate files that fit the ipod limitations on document size in a timely manner. | | | _________________________________________________________________________ "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of the women!" |

A plugin should work great. exactly what I was thinking... since there is a plugin for Movie Collectorz software that works really well, i figured DVD Profiler could really use something like it since is it a much better program to catalog your dvds. | | | _________________________________________________________________________ "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of the women!" |

Just read that the notes feature in Ipod had a limitation of 1000 notes, might be a problem for the idea I was thinking about. Still going to give it go though. | | | The Other DVD Forum Why do people who know the least know it the loudest? |

| Posted: | | | | I almost wasn't going to do this. When I got home last night to check my Ipod version software, it was at 1.0 (I need version 1.2 to be able to do what I wanted). Plugged in the Ipod into the computer and it it asked to update the software, my hopes were lifted, finished the update, checked version 1.1, darn, updated Itunes to the latest release, plugged the ipod back in, again it asked to update the version. This time to 1.2.1, whoppee, can now display coverart when clicking on the title. I'm going for it. | | | The Other DVD Forum Why do people who know the least know it the loudest? |
