| Posted: | | | | I taught in public school for awhile. Here are some ideas, a couple of which I actually used:
- Contact: explore the whole question of life on other planets: probability, how many, what would they look like, etc.
- I, Robot: explore not only man-machine interaction, but the possibility of the blending of man and machine. "Prime directive" issues, etc. Gave writing assignment to explore the issues.
- The disaster films that explore the possibility of asteroid collisions. I seem to remember that "Deep Impact" had a lot of scientific "facts" bandied about that could be discussed and researched, and some awesome special effects that gave a sense of the massive implications.
- Wizard of OZ: I used the Tin Man to teach computation of volume of 3-d objects. Estimation of the volume of a person modelled as a collection of geometric shapes (sphere as the head, cylinder for torso, etc).
- Almost forgot, "Mr. Wizard" TV Series. Now you know my age ...
- And another for your advanced students: "Proof" - a wonderful Broadway play and movie (I've seen both) | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |
