My wife just gave me an early Father's Day present, the 40Gig PS3, and I have a question...or 3.

Do you find the Nyko slow when using the remote that came with it?  I've got mine programmed into my universal and haven't noted any delays.

I used that remote to program my MX-500 and threw it in a closet.  But I've programmed in a dozen or more devices over the years on my MX-500 and haven't ever noticed any slowness with it.  Plus I've seen others mention the slowness of the Nyko product.  Maybe you got a newer version?

When I say it's slow, I'm talking about maybe a half second or less for the PS3 to respond after a button push.  It doesn't sound like much, but the PS3 controller is instantaneous and you really notice the difference.

I probably don't notice/mind any delay because i know i would spend many seconds staring at the PS3 controller wondering: "is Pause the Square or the Circle"
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

I was talking about it as a DVD player not a blu ray player.

No, the DVD Player is region locked.

Software changes to unlock it have the problem, that Sony would overwrite it with the next update. I understand there may be hardware solutions available, but I don't know anything about those. Mine is region 3 only, as I reported above (well, on the previous page).

As Dragon 6 said, you could use your remote.

Triangle gets you to enter an on screen menu, allowing you a series of choices. Also some buttons allow for quick access, for example L1 and R1 are for chapter skipping, L2 and R2 are for fast for/backwards (or the other way around, i don't use that very often  ).

I think you're manual should have some info on more options assigned to certain buttons.

Ultimately, though, buying a remote, for me at least, is an easier way to watch and manouver thorugh a BR disc. The only problem i have with the remote are the Play, Pause and Stop button. The top button is Play and sometimes instead of pause (which i expected to be under Play) you end up pressing Stop. But this may just be me, and after a while you'll get used to it.

Assigning the BR remote is also very easy and only has to be done once, so i think buying one would be my recommendation,

Hope this helps, Have fun with your PS3. Ans if you want some games i'd recommend:
• Uncharted: Drake's Fortune(review)
• Ratchet & Clank (review)
• Warhawk (review)
• GTA 4 (review)
• Gran Turismo Prologue (review)
• Ninja Gaiden Sigma (review)
and of course, coming soon Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots.

Good luck and enjoy,

Paul

It's not just you, I press the stop button instead of pause on a regular basis.

That's a 'grey'.  In case you hadn't noticed, I am no 'grey'.

No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I'd add Burnout Paradise.  And if you're looking for a fun co-op game, check out Pixel Junk Monsters on the Playstation Store.  It's only $10 (and another $6 if you want the add-on).  My wife and I have played it almost daily for the past 3 months.  Fantastic value.  You should be able to download demos of both those games as well for free.
