Make sure that the command string is exactly ^e!r with no spaces in there.

This is the command string I used. But when I click on Edit Overview, I have absolutely no change in Dvd Profiler (concerned profile is not selected, and of course not opened for modification). With previous version, concerned profile was selected.
Ex: Dvdprofiler is showing "Titanic", with no filters selected. In OverviewCheck, I have errors in "Batman", and I click on the button. DvdProfiler still shows "Titanic"...

That's strange. It doesn't even select the profile. So that shouldn't have anything to do with the command, because the UPC select comes before that. And, as far as I remember right now, that is exactly the same code as in the previous version.

When you click Edit Overview, does the Profiler window move on top of other windows? If you press Alt-F10 in Profiler, does the Select by UPC window open?

About this tool, I think a great improvement could be to have a checkbox to say that a profile has been verified. With this information, a list is built, and titles in this list are skipped when the program is used later.
I do not know if this is possible...
but users may have ideas, and developpers do their best...

And why not the possibility to check other text fields (Notes and Easter Eggs)? This would be much more usefull than the comparison with back cover for which I do not see what is the purpose...

Well, Yves, it would seem that it's a timing issue after all. I guess you'll have to buy a faster PC!

Nah, just kidding, of course. I'll come up with something. That shouldn't take long.

As for keeping track of verified profiles, that's a great idea! I would have to use the ID as a key to keep track of the info. The only tiny snag is that the ID can change if you change a manual entry into a Disc ID. But that's such a small problem that I think we could live with it. So, definitely worth exploring.

As for Notes and Easter Eggs, the problem there is that I wouldn't know what language they are. I guess notes would most likely be in the local language, and not the language of the profile's locality, since they are strictly local. Easter Eggs? Probably the same language as the overview, i.e. that of the locality. So I don't think I would want to touch Notes. Easter Eggs? Hm, I wouldn't rule it out entirely, but I don't feel it's a priority right now.

Comparison with the back cover? Two reasons:
* One - if the word is misspelled on the back cover, it should be misspelled in the overview. I know that you probably don't agree, but it is the rule.
* Two - sometimes the overview in Profiler doesn't match the cover at all, and that's something that would need to be corrected. That's pretty much the only reason for the Show All option in Settings.

Why ??? A good overview has no spoiler, no advertising, and contains useful keywords to be used with filter function of the program. We have quite never that on back covers. I can understand that some people are interested by what is on back cover, but we have this information already in a window of dvdprofiler. Is that information so interesting that we have to get it a second time in a second window ???

Well, it needs to be corrected if you want it to confirm to the rules. Again, I realize that you may not agree with the rule, and you're certainly free to use whatever overview you chose - locally.

Yves, I just remembered something that might be relevant.
Are you, by any chance, running DVD Profiler as administrator?
If so, you must do the same with OverviewCheck. Windows will not allow an application to send keystrokes "uphill", so to speak.

Again, I realize that you may not agree with the rule...

We have a great program that allows many things, using sorting, filtering, linking. And we have rules that are made to break all those functions. The problem is not to agree with the rules, it is to know whether you want to use the program or not...

I should add that info to the help file. Not that I think anyone actually reads it, but at least I don't have to feel bad about it.

Version 2.1 is now available

* New feature: Overviews can now be marked as Verified so they don't show up again (unless you select Show All in Settings). Many thanks to surfeur51 for suggesting this feature to me. The help file has been updated to reflect this new feature.

* Fixed: The problem with the stuck Alt key has been solved.

The download page is here.

It shouldn't be possible to select another profile in DVD Profiler while the edit window is open, but for some reason it actually is.

This bug has been around for a long time.

Version 2.1.1

I really didn't like that the bug with the open edit window could overwrite another profile, so I spent quite some time researching, and I managed to come up with a solution. So now the program will not allow you to move to a new profile without first closing the edit window in DVD Profiler.

Some technical details for those who might be interested:
Googling the problem led me to the FindWindow API (if I remember correctly), which turned out to be a dead end. As of Win 8, this no longer finds desktop program windows, but only the new "modern apps" or "metro apps" or whatever they are called. But of course most of the articles I found were from before Win 8, so I got totally mislead. Thanks a bunch, Microsoft, for changing the function of an existing API!

So after much more googling, and several other dead ends, I finally stumbled upon an example that used EnumThreadWindows. With that I could get a list of handles associated with the dvdpro process. That would give me about a hundred handles. But I could narrow it down to just a handful that actually had text properties.

Then I had to build a text string that represented that which follows "Edit Profile" in the edit window, and check if the window text for any of those handles ended with that string. There are five different ways the ID can be displayed in the Edit window:
        Manual DVD #nnn - Titel
        Disc ID: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx - Titel
        Disc ID: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx #n - Titel
        nnnnnn-nnnnnn - Titel
        n-nnnnnn-nnnnnn - Titel
(The third alternative is for disc id variants)

And of course these are all different from the format they are given in the XML file.
Why not compare "Edit profile"? Because it will be different if DVD Profiler is translated. But the rest of the window title should be independent of language.

I have tested all the different variations, and I seem to be able to catch them all. I hope.

Noticed a very little problem : after using OverviewCheck, DvdProfiler cannot be reduced to the taskbar. If you close it and reopen, then reducing to taskbar is possible.
