During collecting of these two awards I made fixes to the new award editor. I am curious how many will notice these minor annoyances. If no-one notices them, I can put off releasing a new version Let me guess : The inability to rename an award (I have to rename the "Genie Award" to "Genie Awards")? or The error appearing when trying to export an award to a .7z file? (the .xml export works fine)? | | | Certainty of death... Small chance of success... What are we waiting for ?! |

But I think I forgot to create it inside the plugin. This might explain why the online update of the awards is not working for another user. Is it working for you? Yes, it's working. Is it possible to add a "Select all/Unselect all" button to the online update module? When you want to update only one award, you have to uncheck every others. | | | Certainty of death... | Posted: | | | | That is what I thought at first too as the first time I used it all awards were checked to update. But then the second time I went to use it.... it seemed that only the updated awards were checked.
Though I do have to wonder. If there is a completely new award added... will the update find it? Is there a check for awards that are not already in your award list? | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | If you do this... I hope you can make it an option that can be turned off. At times I open profiler multiple times a day... don't need it looking for award updates every single time I turn on profiler. | | | Pete |

When you want to update only one award, you have to uncheck every others. I know it is rather hidden, but it is already possible via context menu. This is something which usually isn't needed (see below) and I want to avoid unnecessary traffic because the user always presses "Check all" when doing an update. All awards which have an update or are new since your last update are checked at the beginning. And yes, completely new awards are also found. Quoting Kulju: Quote: Is somehow possible to automate award db refresh when DVDP is started? Theoretically it is possible. Myself I don't like it when applications phone home. What I could do is, that I add something, that after a certain time of not doing an update, you will be asked if you want to update. Maybe once a month or so, because I do not get new awards that often. And I always announce updates here in this thread anyway. Minor updates I am also only doing in combination with announced updates. These are the awards which are checked even if I didn't announce an update for it.

In your system temp folder (simply enter %temp% in the address bar of your Windows Explorer), is there a subfolder "CCViewer3"?

I would think even that should have the ability to be turned off in options. I always hated nag screens that can't be turned off. Just like the one in profiler about updating your profiles. That one has been aggravating me since it was added. | | | Pete |

Thats ok with me. If I'm editing an award and make an update before sending it to you, wil it be replaced by the one in the database (and loosing all changes made)? | | | Certainty of death... Small chance of success... What are we waiting for ?! |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Frodonf: Quote: If I'm editing an award and make an update before sending it to you, wil it be replaced by the one in the database (and loosing all changes made)? If you look in the exported XML, you will find lines like this one: <Award Name="Academy Award" Year="1964"> At these points during import/update, the mentioned year of the mentioned award is deleted from the database and replaced by the upcoming data. So, if your changes are in a year which are not in the data you receive from the online pool, your changes will not be lost. Otherwise they are lost. If the only reason for you is to make an update before sending it to me, that the other data of that award is up-to-date, you do not necessarily need to do this if you fear loosing changes. I never blindly take over data I receive. I always make a file-compare and merge the received file into the existing data as needed. Of course if the data I receive is up-to-date, then I can take over the new file completely without merging. | | |
