Like others, I'd have to separate movies and TV (but I'm exercising restraint with seasons):

Movies (not ranked):

Amélie
Bleu (from 3 Colors Trilogy)
Ikiru
Lifeboat
Out of the Past
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
Station Agent
Unforgiven
Wild Strawberries

(I could pretty easily substitute out some of those for others and I've omitted some favorites taking into account that the subject is the DVD as a whole, not just film -- so Woody Allen is a no-show and some favorite films, like Short Cuts, don't make the... uh, cut.)

TV series (not ranked):

Arrested Development (season 2)
Battlestar Galactica (season 1)
Deadwood (season 1)
Firefly (complete series)
Twilight Zone (season 2)
