But for the record, I don't use ANY non-free software.  LINUX.

Then you are immoral as you would deny those who create the financial rewards they deserve.

After telling Luje to grow up earlier, you express a somewhat similiar unreflected POV. Calling someone who uses open source software (Linux) immoral is not very mature in itself.

He said that he doesn't use ANY non-free software. Presumably he steals some of it as it is highly unlikely that everything he wants to use is free. For example, presumably he had to pay for the operating system which is running DVD Profiler. Aside from this, I consider anyone who disdains the profit motive as immoral, as he shows contempt for that which fosters all innovation and progression in society. You need to grow up and learn how the world actually works. Your perspective is juvenile.

Wow you made a big assumption. He's not a registered user of the Profiler 3 and the old version worked with emulators. By the way he hasn't said he disdains the profit motive as immoral. That's your prejudice.

Yeah, maybe we can have different flavors of the program?

"Ken & Gerri's (insert your favorite flavor & user name here).

Might not go over as good as the B&J ice cream, but you never know!!

Two years ago for my birthday, Ken got me a really nice ice cream machine. It is one of our favorite appliances   Although I must say, we have a tendency to follow recipes, we havent invented any on our own.

mmm. Homemade ice cream. Can we come over? I think a DVD Profiler 3.0 Grand Opening party is in order.

You're not improving my take on your character in the least by making these assumptions out of the blue....

That's a big leap, and an offensive conclusion based on no evidence on your part.

Nope. Linux & WINE. I suggest you make sure your facts are right before inserting foot in mouth.

I have no problem with those that choose to stick with the free version.  A free version is available and if they're willing to live with the limitations, then good for them.  It's not like they're stealing.  Ken has made a free version and put it out there.

My only pet peeve is when I see people complain about their free version.  I've seen people whine that they couldn't upload their full collection anymore.  I have no sympathy for those who can't upload their 800 disc collection because they're still using the free version.  And when they say they're going to look for a "better" solution, it just gets me going.

Bigger problem is, it gets us going, but it keeps'em staying, as they find out there's no better solution around.

I don't think much of some bum who uses an emulator to rob Microsoft of profits to which they are legally entitled. Without Windows to emulate, these bums would not need to worry about using an emulator to run Windows based freeware. Are you suggesting that Microsoft recognizes WINE as a legitimate program? If not, then this program is a form of theft. If nobody was paid for developing programs, there would soon be no new programs. You and your ilk may enjoy working for nothing, but rational individuals expect to get paid for their work.

It's hard to know how to respond to somebody with such a distorted view of reality. However:

1. Using an emulator robs Microsoft????? Sorry, this is such a bizarre concept. So, Microsoft Virtual PC robs RedHat, Ubantu, Suse, etc? The dirty devils! Will Bill Gates ever stoip?

2. Microsoft recognise WINE? Who cares if they do or not. Emulation is not copying, stealing, or anything of the sort. Provided no code is actually copied, then it is perfectly legal.

3. So, LINUX, which nobody paid to develop, does not exist? Guess in your world, LINUX is just a figment of the imagination.

4. Suggest you look up alturism in the dictionary. Or hobby.

I won't even comment on the bizarre idea that Windows runs programs......

I guess you meant altruism

But I disagree about using a whatyoumacallit, an emulator, is stealing. There are numerous emulators that allow running Windows software on an Apple, or PS2 or PSOne games on a Windows machine. I don't use em, but I know people who do. I don't think this is theft, but this allows people to play (in this example) games on a pc.
Same goes for anyone who is using Ubuntu, or WINE???, or Linux and wanting to run certain Microsoft programs.

What I do see is someone who is 'clouded' by LINUS, or Windows. I have a team off developers on one hand I have people who are pro Microsoft and on the other hand ones pro LINUX.
They discussions they have from time to time are time-consumming and always in the end. They still don't see each others point of view.
I am just a 'stupid' user. I can see some of the ease/stability of the LINUX platform, that is why my company has implemented LINUX servers at the customer we are working for. On the other hand the ease where we do our work on, by using Microsoft Word and all types of other programs like IDEs. Then the Windows system is very nice to use.
I am glad that Bill Microsoft Gates did `steal` the idea for the GUI environment from Steve Jobs and make a lot of things easy!
