| Posted: | | | | My wife is already mad enough at me concerning my DVD collection. I have to buy mostly used so that I can tell her that they're only $1-$2 per movie or so. |

In the end, put it in a new case, and if it doesn't look or play like a pre-owned, who's to say where it came from, and why should it matter? |

| Posted: | | | | Nothing to worry about on buying used DVDs... easily have my collection... if not more have been used DVDs. I have almost 3,000 releases now (box sets counted as one). And I can count on one hand the problems I had with used DVDs. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | I've purchased about 300 used in the past 4 years and have had only 1 with a problem. Took it back and it was replaced. Wait a couple of weeks after a new release and you can find it at the 2nd hand store for about half the original price. |

| Posted: | | | | Just read an artice about play.com vs amazon.co.uk for people outside the UK. Before play.com was winning about everything, cheapst movies, free shipping costs. And they would always ship one order at a time, so you didnt have to pay extra for the movies in costums etc.
And amazon, had a small shipping fee. A bit more expencive movies etc. But you got your movies faster.
But now, all that have changed. After play.com was bought by some big japanise firm. They have started to ship all the orders at once. And for us outside UK, we had a choise before if we wanted to puy in GBP, or EUR. But now we dont have a choise anymore. We HAVE to pay in EUR. And since that have happend, alot of the stuff is much more expensive. And the shippingtime is been even slower, after the new owners.
But amazon, have gotten a bit cheaper. And you can even pay in your local currency. (wich is great) And when you place an order. They tell you (just about) when the order will arrive in the mail. Something play.com doesnt do. And amazon is very fast, from when you place the order till they ship it. Something play was good at too, but not so much anymore.
So my verdict after play.com was sold. Its lost the war against amazon. (spesially for the people outside the UK).
What do you guys think, that used both play.com and amazon. (Outside UK that is.) |

| Posted: | | | | I haven't used Play.com so i can't comment on the Play VS Amazon, but i do use Amazon a lot and if you are a smart shopper you can get some really good buy. Their delivery is good. I always use 'standard' delivery so they tend to hold the order for the couple of extra days <G> BUT if you have a problem with a disk .. pow they are right there to help out.

| Posted: | | | | @Piffi: The course of events you described is spot on. I used to order a lot from play.com, but in recent years: not so, only incidentally when they have unique offers. Nowadays it's mostly Amazon UK and sometimes Zavvi and The Hut. |

Never used Zavvi or The Hut. Is it ok places to buy from? Fast from you place an order, till they send it? cheap? Long delivery etc? |

| Posted: | | | | Zavvi and The Hut are the same company and they are OK as long as you don't mind waiting ages for your order (if they ever dispatch it). I never use them anymore because their customer service is shocking. I'd rather pay the extra cash elsewhere. Their prices can be very very good though... | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

| Posted: | | | | Oh, ok.. Good to know. (then i wont try them) even though prices can be good, it doesnt help. If they use forever to ship your items. Or dont ship'em at all. I'm with you there, i'll rather pay a bit extra cash elsewhere. And get my stuff |
