Can you unlock the roles column for editing in search and replace?can you expand the search feature on these CREW and CAST sections: Search on the CAST or CREW name, show the credited as result and give an entry field for a replacement for the credited as field? Search First Name field: [ ] Last Name field: [ ] Middle Name field: [ ] Result: First Name / Middle Name / Last Name is credited as: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX change to: [ ] [change] [find next] [leave search]
hope you got the idea? | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions. | | | Last edited: by ? |

hope you got the idea? Yup, got it - but right now I don't display ANY cast/crew info, so there is nothing to unlock .... What am I missing? There are two cast/crew editors already available: one by Tom Gaines and one by Goodguy. I played with them both, and they have a lot of capability. As a convenience you can call one by "right click" from the profile data grid, after you have stored the path to the tool in the BulkEdit options panel. So, to edit cast/crew, you just: edit profile / copy cast or crew, right click edit cast/crew, do your thing, then paste back into the profile. Of course you don't need BulkEdit for any of this - I just put them on the menu to make it easy to have an edit "one stop shopping" area. Tell me if that can satisfy your needs. If not, if you could explain exactly what else would be needed for the tools to work together. I would like the opportunity to first see if one of those guys is willing to add something so that we get the totality of what is needed by the tools working together, before I embark on re-doing stuff that has already been done. That would be a lot of new code for me - it would not be soon, anyway, and it would be slow - BulkEdit is probably already slow enough, right? (Don't answer that!!! ) Anyway, what do you think about all my rambling .... ? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! What am I missing? you have 1 flaged profile and loaded in bulkedit with the bottom option: Look For: Replace With: If you search with a role, your plugin finds the role in that field you just can not replace it with. case: DVD Box TV series avererage over 20 episodes and dividers, if you want to change 1 role for a player in all episodes. Don't know if the other 2 plugins provide this? Maybe if i have time will have a go at those. Oh, this is just too funny. I really have no clue what you are talking about - and I wrote the code!!! What field called "Role" are you talking about? I don't even display it. I have no code to search it ... I'm really confused ... The "target column is read/only" message is coming from whatever column the selected cell belongs to - since there is no "role" column ... I am wondering what you mean? Perhaps you are describing what you want it to do in the future? I'm sorry if I misunderstood ... | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | what i'm doing: flag 1 profile load flagged profile with no selected field in the right window i have only one profile showing with its profile ID, nothing else is showing with the multicopy tool 2 for the currently selected column (wich are none) i enter in the look for: Paramedic in the replace with: E.M.T. press Find and Replace Next The message received: Target coumn is ReadOnly
either it found the requested data and want to replace it and it can't or the message is in error.
Role="Paramedic" | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions. |

| Posted: | | | | Can't you reverse the working of your routine? Look for the requested data in a field in a profile, if the data is found check the field it is found in and compare to a list of allowed data, if it is not allowed to change it.
This with the idea that you can not change an actor name for a non verified actor name in the database (local or online) Bruce Willis exchange for Ken Cole. I don't know what safeguards there need to be looked after. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. I don't know what safeguards there need to be looked after. Ok, now I see what is going on: (1) Perhaps you did not notice, but the one cell that is visible in your scenario, is selected by default. It is the profile ID of the one profile that you flagged. So, Column = Profile ID. When you did a search, the first thing the plugin did was check the column - it was read only, so it stopped there - no need to search. (2) You are on slippery territory when you start telling a programmer how easy/hard it is to do something iwth their own code. There is no way you can know that. The degree of difficuly is a matter of the intrinsic complexity of the problem, the skills of the programmer, and the starting base of the existing design. Notice I never said that it couldn't be done - I just said that I didn't want to, because it was a lot of work, and it has already been done before - I think. And I requested that you look at the other tools. Because only you know best what you need. If I look at them, doesn't matter what I think ... So, the offer is still open - take a look at the other tools. Try to be as creative as you always are ( ) to see if you can use them somehow with BulkEdit. If not, come back and explain the problems, and maybe I can cook up something with the other guys to give you something with minimum effort to all - that's fair, right? If all else fails, then I will do something - but I have so much stuff on the table to come before that - finish CSV import, 3.5 support, Events editing (maybe Cast/Crew is more important, I guess ...) (Maybe you could PM Goodguy - he knows that stuff cold - is a master programmer. That would be the best, if he updated his tool or helped me to somehow collaborate with it, so that they appear as a team effort to the user.) Edit: Sorry, one more point. If you are making these changes in the cloned profiles, then all you need to do is make it before the cloning, and the Cast/Crew change will be copied automatically - but I'm sure you thought of that already. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | CSV import is available.
It allows: - import of "2.4" format, ala CSV Export Plugin - import of either row or column format of CSV Export (not sure which is easier to do yet) - select delimiter - select quoted or non-quoted text - ProfileID will be accepted as upc.locality, I{disc-id}, or M{12 digits}
Edit: BulkEdit 1.0 is avilable with CSV Import. More details later. Need some sleep.
The following formats are supported:
Plugin CSV Export 2.4 Format - all of the following: "Title","Collection Type","Description","Aspect Ratio","Loaned To","Collection Number","Production Year","Running Time","MPAA Rating","Case Type","Region","Purchase Place","Mfr.'s Suggested Retail Price","Purchase Price","Wish List Priority","Widescreen Format","Pan&Scan Format","Full Frame Format","Anamorphic Widescreen Format","Release Date","Purchase Date","Due Back From Loan Date","Director #1","Director #2","Film Review","Studio #1","Studio #2","Studio #3","Genre #1","Genre #2","Genre #3"
Plugin CSV Export Column Format - any or all of the following (profile with 1 disc): "Title","Collection Type","Description","Aspect Ratio","Loaned To","Collection Number","Production Year","Running Time","MPAA Rating","Case Type","Region","Purchase Place","Mfr.'s Suggested Retail Price","Purchase Price","Wish List Priority","Widescreen Format","Pan&Scan Format","Full Frame Format","Anamorphic Widescreen Format","Release Date","Purchase Date","Due Back From Loan Date","Director #1","Director #2","Film Review","Studio #1","Studio #2","Studio #3","Genre #1","Genre #2","Genre #3","Audio Rating","Composer #1","Composer #2","Country of Origin","Description - Side A - 1","Description - Side B - 1","Disc ID - Side A - 1","Disc ID - Side B - 1","Dual Layered - Side A - 1","Extras Rating","Label - Side A - 1","Label - Side B - 1","Last Edited","Last Watched - Date","Last Watched - User","Locality","Location - 1","Media Type","Notes","Original Title","Overview","Running Time Formatted","Slot - 1","Sort Title","Times Watched","UPC","Video Rating","Video Standard"
DVDSpot Export - all of the following: upc,title,custom_title_sort,rating,review,source,price,owned,owned_date,owned_custom,watched,watched_date

| Posted: | | | | Some Usage Scenarios - please do not quote this post.
Bulk Loading a set of Profile's
(1) Easiest way is to create a text file, such as upcs.csv.
Data Description (samples) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Profile ID Column Title (required) 012569792067 UPCA, locality 0 (US) 012569792067.3 UPCA, locality 3 (Canada) 4988064913459 EAN, locality 0 (US) 4988064913459.17 EAN, locality 17 (Japan) IBD870203847D4587 Disc ID (must start with "I", followed by exactly 16 characters A-F, 0-9) IBD870203847D4587.5 Disc ID with Locality M000000000123 Manual profile ID, "M" followed by eactly 12 digits M000000000123.4 Manual profile with Locality
(2) BulkEdit -> Load CSV and Validate, will create blank profiles and set flags
(3) Exit BulkEdit, then Collection\Flagged\Refresh
(4) Backup the database and continue business as usual
Note: The "Profile ID" column can also be added to and will be accepted in either of the CSV Export formats, and when present, the derived UPC will override whatever is in the UPC column. | | | Thanks for your support.
