Quote: When comparing two profiles with these strings in the overview: "him -and his '73 Oldsmobile- into" and "him -- and his '73 Oldsmobile -- into", the PCP-plugin marks the differences as "-- and " and "Oldsmobile -- " in the new profile thus including a space at the end while these are in both profiles and so should not be part of the differences. The algorithm uses only whitespace to break text into words, not punctuation. After extensive testing, I found this to produce better readable output in most cases.
While using both whitespace and punctuation to break words would cause the diff highlighting to be more exact, it would create smaller pieces of highlighted text, which also often would be highlighted only on one side. This makes them both difficult to spot and to sync for the user.
Consider an inserted comma, like "word" vs. "word,". Currently that's how the difference is highlighted in the skin. If punctuation would break words, the left side would show no highlight, and the right side would highlight the "," only.
Long story short, the effect of this behavior on your example is as following:
The algorithm considers "-and " vs. "-- " a replacement and the right-side "and " an insertion. That's why the trailing space is highlighted. "Oldsmobile- " vs. "Oldsmobile " is a replacement, too, and the "-- " is the insertion, again causing the trailing space to be included in the highlight. Thank you very much for your explanation. I already thought it was intended and I reported this behaviour just in case. Following your logic I completely agree with your design. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | Just a quick note regarding 3.1.0.1139/1140 Beta:
Changes to the case type that utilize the new Slip Cover checkbox will most likely not be visible in the PCP preview.
I will provide an update to the plugin once the release version becomes available. | | | Matthias |

I will provide an update to the plugin once the release version becomes available. For anyone who's wondering, It doesn't show the Slip Cover, but it does show the Case Type section as changed. So for anyone waiting for the update from Goodguy, it does sorta work as is. And since it does everythign else better than the default... | | | "I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. Support for extended case type info (Slip Cover etc.) as introduced in DVD Profiler 3.1.0.1139.Ownership info included in header.Minor bugfixes. If you have a previous version installed, you can simply overwrite the old files. Just make sure, you have closed DVD Profiler. Don't forget that you also have to replace the "goodguy PCP Preview" skin. Download at http://www.geocities.com/goodguy_dvdpro/ | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Installing on Vista would be easier if you add path of cmd file to (un)install.cmd:
regsvr32.exe "%~dp0ProfileDiff.dll"
That will help because when you right click install.cmd or uninstall.cmd in File Explorer and select "Run as Administrator", Windows changes current directory to %windir%\system32 and regsvr32 does not find ProfileDiff.dll from there. |

| Posted: | | | | I've installed v1.0.1. When i try to preview i get the following message: Quote: Initializing... Version mismatch between Profile Comparison Plugin and this preview skin. I installed v1.0.0 about two weeks ago. It worked the first couple times i used it then quit working - giving a different error message than above. When i picked up the new version yesterday i realized the v1.0.0 problem was mine. Where the install instructions say unpack it into a dedicated folder i overlooked the word dedicated and deleted the temporary folder a couple days later which is why it didn't work. So I created a dedicated folder for v1.0.1, registered the plugin, and imported the layout, per the instructions. I can see the updated HTML in the right pane with the version 1.0.1. I run a preview and get the Version Mismatch error i go back to the HTML Section Editor and i've got the HTML for v 1.0.0 showing again. Importing again and the same behavior repeats. I've flushed caches, cleared temp folders and nothing helps. Somewhere in the bowels the content of the old DPL file is hiding. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? (btw, I'm running XP Pro) | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |
