Every time I try and run Restifier I keep getting an error.  "Failed to start the service: Access is denied."  I tried the troubleshooting that the error gives me as well as some of the others I have read in this thread.  Is anybody still monitoring this thread that might be able to provide me some help?  I'm not a computer idiot, but I'm certainly not an expert either, and don't feel comfortable changing ports and what not unless I have specific instructions.  I would love to get this running on my Lumia 900 Windows Phone.  Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not sure I can help you as mine is working OK as I have just a few minutes ago updated my changes to my HTC Mozart. But, do you have Admin rights for the user you are logged in as? That MAY solve the problem, but it is just a guess.

Yes, I do have admin rights as it's my home machine.  Still keep getting that error no matter what I try.  I'm running Windows 7 on a year old HP tower.  I wish invelos would just make an official Windows Phone app.  C'mon!!!

Try another port, something over 1024. There might be something using port 80 that doesn't want to play with others.

I thought I tried that but I'll give it another shot.  To do this (and excuse my ignorance on this topic) do I just change the port number inside the invelos software and then match that on the mobile app, or are there other steps to that?  Thanks for the help!

There are no other steps. Just try a nymber in the 1024-60000 range.

You can open a command prompt and type "netstat" - it will then list ports in use which you should avoid (the number after the colon in the second column). Notice it can take a while for netstat to finish.

Unfortunately tried changing to a different port (tried multiple numbers between 1024-60000) and checked the netstat and still get that damned error.  Down I go.

Do you want the port number for Restifier to match the port number of the shared DVD Profiler port?  I've tried both with no luck but just wondering.

I do not know what a "shared DVD profiler port" is, but no it should not match it whatever it is.

You might have a firewall or something installed. Sorry, there are thousands of combinations of software that could run so I can't really say what the problem is.

Basically Restifer just asks the OS to open the specified port. If the OS won't do it, there isn't much I can do to find out why not.

Lars

I appreciate your help.  I even went in and shut down my firewall completely and I still get the same error.
The "shared DVD profiler port" I am speaking of is when you go to Tools, Sharing.  There is a checkbox for "Share my collection on the network" and then asks you which port to use.  I am using the default 32847 but wasn't sure if this could have been causing an issue.  Changing it hasn't helped.

Just so I am completely clear, the only change I should need to make is when I go to Plugins, Restifier, then I check the Accept license and start box, select a port number and the virtual directory (I'm using DvdProfilerService/) for my directory.
I have gone into my firewall and told it to pass this program on the same port I am inputting into the Restifier settings.  If those are all the steps, then I think it's time for me to move on.

Lastly, here is the error I am getting on Restifier...
Failed to start the service: Access is denied.  In the log it tells me to open the command prompt, run as admin, and enter this code it gives me.  That didn't work either.

Currently downloading my 5,866 profiles!  I think I'll just go to bed and hope it's done in the morning!

Thanks a million, Lars!

OK, second try. (First go didn't seem to post).

I'm not sure I can help, but here is how mine is set up. In Restifier I have port set to 80 and virtual directory set to DvdProfilerService/ (including the slash). Just be carfeful - when you select the Restifier plugin, even just to check it, if you click the OK button it will turn off Restifier. You need to go back and restart Restifier.

I then checked to see if Restifier is working by going to http:/localhost:80/DvdProfilerService/

I then allowed Restifier through my Firewall by adding the application and setting the port to 80.

Next I installed the app on my phone. Then, if I recall correctly, I had to set some details on the phone. It asks for the Restifier URL. In my case, it is set to http://xx.xx.xx.xx/DvdProfilerService where xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of my PC.

When syncing, I make sure that both DVDProfiler and Zune are running. I connect my phone using the cable that came with it, then I leave it connected for a few seconds to make sure all internal connections are working before running the app on my phone. (I found that if I try and sync immediately after either running DVDProfiler or Zune, or connecting the phone I get errors).  Hit sync on the phone and hopefully it will start syncing. I find it takes some noticeable seconds before it starts syncing, and it is not fast.

Hope this helps.

wanted to say thanks again for this software.  While its a hair cumbersome to get working right the first time, it manages my 450+ disc collection really well once running.

Well, I'm having the EXACT same problem that JarrodShockow is having.
No matter what I try, I can not get the retifier to actually start up.
Get an access denied error anytime I accept licence and start.
