Ken is probably just hard at work. This is really nothing new at all — there are long periods of inactivity without a single word from Ken, and everyone always predicts that the end is coming — and then a super loaded Beta release or new feature/app shows up and Ken is back on the forum in force.

I have no reason to believe this period of inactivity is any different. Contributions are still being processed, so somebody is still making sure the existing wheels keep turning here at the very least.

I recall a period of time when Ken was very active on the forums. But, as with all things, there were those who would agree with what he said and those who would take a 180, plus the questions he got bombarded with weren't easy to answer. There are those of us who take 1 side and the other half who take the opposite side. That's why I don't get into debates. I make my statement and move on.

Maybe. Might be true. But the whole point of this thread is: we have no clue. He might as well be dealing with a terminal disease, himself or closeby. That's one more likely than Mediadogg's suggestion. But... we do not know. For the careless reader: I do not wish him that or anyone else for that matter.

DDA: I still have the injunction once publicly available and remember what was communicated at the time (or afterwards actually).  (some of his) His former partners in (Intervocative) business wanted a buy-out to see money, because of the program's success. Ken Cole, as main developer and operating the servers and as almost the only one of the Intervocative owners participating in the fora (though almost as sparsely as presently), disagreed. Ken Cole restarted as Invelos, using none of the parts his former business partners once had contributed. And version 3 was born. A lawsuit started to get the money and Intervocative and Invelos shut down. AFAIK the lawsuit failed, in court or through mediation I do not know/recall (see also here, Legal Issues parapgraph and here pages 1 and 11). Invelos started again. The old user contributed data (ownership at Intervocative) wasn't re-used. We all frantically uploaded all our profiles to Invelos to rebuild the online db and we succeeded, I think. End of story.

If he would appear to give a crap I wouldn't have bothered weighing in, and wouldn't have to "get over myself"

You just gave me the inspiration for a million dollar idea!

I laugh at those who defend his complete apathy towards the community.  The excuses made for him do make me chuckle.  Some of them may contain some validity, but at the end of the day he just doesn't give a crap. If you don't agree with me that's fine.  You say I have anger management issues, how many posts of mine have ever had to be edited?  I don't believe I've ever had an instance where a moderator had to step in.  I've never been suspended, warned, banned, etc from any forum I've ever posted on. I try to be respectful of others and their opinions, we aren't all going to agree all the time.

Believe me, I had no delusions that my rant(s) were going to change anything.  But I'd rather give my honest opinion and move on then just keep quiet and let it fester.  I can see how 'angry' I come across but I'm not really, frustrated would be a better word.  I think a response such as yours is too easy and doesn't really answer any of my concerns.  I probably would have been better off editing my post to remove the more inflammatory part of the post.  But The core sentiment of the quote part remains.  His apathy, or perceived apathy really makes me SMH.  If he does care I just wish he would share it more, be involved.  I love the speculation that he is hard at work... just because that is how he was before.

It's funny how you both take that part of my long post to respond to, instead of actually respond to any of my concerns.  I concede I'm partly to blame for venting instead of holding back and simply stating my issues sans any emotion.

It's very possible that many of the issues the contributors argue passionately about are completely trivial to Ken.  Clarifying an issue of no importance at the cost of alienating half the contributors (who take this stuff way too seriously) probably isn't ever going to be a high priority.

Thanks!  I appreciate your response, and understand your POV.

But disagree with you.. so you are advocating that there shouldn't be a definitive ruling because it may upset people?  I'd rather have a clear ruling on something... if I don't agree with it I'd  lock it down locally.  I'd much prefer that then flip a coin and hope I'm making the right call.

Why?  As long as your contributions don't run counter to the (possibly ambiguous) rules use your own judgment and let the voters have their say.  You'll have what you want locally and the online database will have whatever the screeners decide to approve.

The problem is too many people get their feelings hurt when their contributions receive "no" votes.

DDA: I'd love to agree with you on a number of points you raise.

But... I do agree with Hal on your anger management issue. Just look back on your own posts here the last days (just two pages scanned):
"closed off d-bag", "want to slap him", "complete apathy", "doesn't give a crap", describing support as "blind supporters", "When was Ken upfront about anything", "can't be bothered", 'I'm frustrated"
Taken out of context now? Perhaps, but if I was given such language I'm not sure I would bother answering. After all, as a local saying here goes "honey works better than vinegar". Though I would be predict he wouldn't answer easily of fast though.

I wouldn't call it apathy. After all, as you can see on his profile page he does visit the fora. He just doesn't communicate, certainly not recently, whatever his motives are. It has (sadly) become one of the constant factors here in the (~) past 10 years I have the program.

As I said, IMHO it wouldn't hurt for Invelos to present a business review and forecast.

More important (to me) would be a schedule, showing us when which innovations (updates/new releases) are planned and which are planned but not scheduled yet.

This would give us something to look forward to.

Of course we all know how good Ken is with keeping schedules (just thinking of his "two weeks" statement).
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
