So I created a dedicated folder for v1.0.1, registered the plugin,  and imported the layout, per the instructions.  I can see the updated HTML in the right pane with the version 1.0.1.

I run a preview and get the Version Mismatch error i go back to the HTML Section Editor and i've got the HTML for v 1.0.0 showing again.  Importing again and the same behavior repeats.  I've flushed caches, cleared temp folders and nothing helps.

Have you deleted the old layout and made sure to check the "Suitable for previews" check box for the new one?

Yes to both.

I was seeing two section names:

goodguy PCP Preview
goodguy PCP Preview(1)

with the first being v1.0.0 and the second v1.0.1.  I tried deleting the first, renaming the second to remove the "(1)" and made sure the checkbox was clicked.  I'd then try to preview, get the same error, come back to "Edit HTML Sections" window and find the one section name but the content now was v1.0.0.

While the delete & rename *should* work, you may try and delete "goodguy PCP Preview" HTML section *before* importing the new one.

Also, if you have a custom layout that you frequently reload via  View -> Load Layout, you must save this layout again after updating the HTML section.

I had a similar error report.

What I did was run DVDP go into html window area remove PCP Preview in all it's guises.
Shut down DVDP
Went back into the install folder and ran Uninstall.
Then re-ran the Install CMD.
restarted DVDP
back into html windows and follow the install instruction on Goodguy's webpage for the install PCP layout.

All up and running now. Goodguy's webpage althought says you can install over the top, by uninstalling first both the old version and the pointers in DVDP, then doing a re-install works best I've found.

Hope this helps Tweeter.

Tried this and it didn't fix it.

Tried Snarbo's steps, again no joy.  It always showed v1.0.0 when i checked the HTML window again.

Finally i uninstalled the plugin, uninstalled Profiler (telling it to flush the registry) and renamed the data folder under My Documents.  I then

- re-installed Profiler
- restored the dB
- closed Profiler
- installed PCP
- started Profiler
- opened the Edit HTML Section window and Imported PCP.dpl (v1.0.1) and checked the Preview box and Exited with a Save
- re-opened Edit HTML Section window and nothing is listed at all now (and as would be expected if i Refresh Profiles this viewer is not an option)

So it's not reverting to v1.0.0 now but i can't call it progress either.

One other possible clue.  The instructions say after importing: "finally click OK to close the HTML Section Editor" but i don't have an OK button.  I don't have any buttons.  Got a toolbar and a menu but neither offer a Save or OK option.  It's been like this for me on this machine since i bought Profiler.  To save i can press Escape and am offered the chance to Save which i accept.

I also have Profiler installed on my laptop but i've never installed this plugin.  I just now did.  It works as expected.  And the laptop Editor window has OK and Cancel buttons.

Both machines have XP Pro; Profiler 3.1 build 1151 and fully up-to-date patches
Desktop: Home built with IE 7
Laptop: IBM R40 with IE 6

The missing buttons are a possible glitch in DVDProfiler (unrelated to the plguin) that some users have encountered. See this thread in the Technical Support forum. As I was never able to force this bug(?) to appear, I can't help you with it.

It clearly seems that due to this problem you are unable to save HTML Section changes on your first machine.

Solved!

That thread pointed the way.  I reduced the screen DPI from Large (120) to Normal (96) and rebooted.  When Profiler came up next the buttons were there and i was able to import and save by clicking OK.  Then everything worked.

I changed the DPI back to Large and rebooted again.  The buttons were gone but the HTML was saved and the PCP viewer worked just fine.

Thanks all for you help and suggestions.

Known Issues
  • On localized versions of DVD Profiler, the preview translates only some data into the selected language.

  • Quoting Martin_Zuidervliet:

If you could find a way/the time to enable the localization of Genres which are translated in my old comparison skin, I can happily live with the fact I have to manually translate your window.

    Quoting Ken Cole:

Update: New build 1168, with the following changes:
  • Subitles and audio tracks now translate in HTML windows and profile previews

  • In the default comparison window Genres, Subtitles, Audio Tracks and the word "as" between a Cast Member and his/her Role are localized (translated to the selected language). In the PCP window they are English.

Could you *please* fix this for me or is there a way I can do this myself?

Update: New build 1168, with the following changes:
  • Subtitles now sort properly in HTML windows and profile previews, eliminating false difference indicator

  • It also came to my attention that the Subtitles of some existing profiles are not always correctly sorted (sorted in the same way as the new profiles) in the PCP window, while they are correctly sorted in the default comparison window now. And this happens in the US version as in the localized version of DVD Profiler.

The sort order in the PCP window comes from the HEADER_VARS, while the default comparison uses the DP tag.

No, it explains why you may see a different sort order in PCP and in the default comparison. I thought you wanted to know. My bad.

The question is, which of them actually represent the real data. I never noticed that difference between DP tags and HEADER_VARS before, maybe it is something that was introduced in the new beta.

If the profile still has a subtitle difference flagged due to sort order, it makes no sense to hide the sort order that actually causes the difference.

Yes, it's introduced in the latest beta because before build 1168 the default and your comparison were the same. Looks like Ken choose to hide the problem instead of really fixing it.

Now back to my initial question: Are you willing to localize the data which is now unlocalized?

Well, then I'm glad that Ken didn't hide it in the HEADER_VARS as well, and PCP is still able to display the correct data.

No, I still have no plans to support localized versions of DVD Profiler.

OK, I am willing to accept that. Except now your plugin only partially uses translated data while I think it would be nicer if it does not use any translated data at all, but I do not think you can do anything about it or you would have done it already.

New features planned for next release:

  • This will open the Comparison in a new browser window.
Useful if you don't want to accept the update of an entire section, but would like to apply partial changes manually. You normally can't do that because the Comparison window is modal and access to DVDProfiler's editing functions is blocked while the Comparison is displayed.

  • Copy Cast or Crew XML

  • Context menus (like the Copy All Cast/Cew commands in DVDProfiler's Edit window) with the following commands for cast and for crew:
    - Copy Existing Cast/Crew
    - Copy New Cast/Crew
    - Copy New Cast/Crew without Birth Years
Useful if you want to make some cast and crew changes based on the update, rather than completely accepting the section update. The copied XML can be edited with Notepad or a 3rd party credits editor and finally pasted into DVD Profiler.

I would like some feedback regarding the usefulness of these ideas.

I indeed often edit partial changes in and am therefore very much looking forward to this
