| Posted: | | | | Thanks Wigram!
At the moment, though, I just want to see if there is enough interest to warrant the effort to complete the translatability work. I suspect that most will be satisfied using it in English, but since maybe half the work was already done I thought I'd test the waters, so to speak. I have a hunch that this will end up in the "unreleased experiments" folder. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

I helped friends to install this program, and they use it only because they can have it in their native language. This may be true also for plugins. | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | I recently had a DOH moment. I searched for a specific country in Country of Origin, and in the result I saw some entries with that country and some entries with another country. And that's when I realized my mistake. A while back (version 3.5.1 to be exact) I fixed selection of Country of Origin. The reason was that unlike other multi value fields it was stored in the XML file under three different names; CountryOfOrigin, CountryOfOrigin2 and CountryOfOrigin3. Because of that, it required special handling. At that time I should have realized that I needed to make the corresponding change to the presentation logic. I didn't, so it only showed the first CoO. DOH! So now that I realized my mistake I fixed that in version 3.10.0. So - why is this release not 3.9.4 (as the previous release was 3.9.3, and this is only a bug fix, and bug fixes normally only change the last number in the version)? That's because there is another bigger change that you won't see right away. I decide to go ahead and finish making ProfilerQuery translatable. I had already done most of the job, so why not finish it? If you don't download any translations - of which there are none yet - you should (hopefully) not see any difference from the old version. If you want to translate ProfilerQuery, download the translation kit from the download page. It comes with instructions. As always, you find everything here. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar | | | Last edited: by GSyren |

With your permission I'd like to use it for my plugins, too. Note: For some translations an explanation is needed. For example "Boxset special". You could provide it in the Comments section of the resource file. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Nothing happened when I tried to save a translation file using "de" instead of "de-DE". You will need to explain to people what that means. By the way "de" is a valid resource language. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Also re-loading the original file, clears out the translations but then saving the translation doesn't ask for a new language key but stone-cold overwrites the previous translation file. Luckily I had only entered a few words so far. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

But you can have the source if you want to. Just let me know. Quote: By the way "de" is a valid resource language. Yeah, I know. I added the xx-XX limitation deliberately, because I wanted to have the folder names in a format that was rather unique so I could identify the available translations more easily from ProfilerQuery. Quote: Also re-loading the original file, clears out the translations but then saving the translation doesn't ask for a new language key but stone-cold overwrites the previous translation file. The overwriting was a deliberate choice, since you would already have identified the language. Clearing the translation when re-loading the original wasn't really something I thought about. I didn't expect anyone to reload the original without saving the translation. I guess a warning would be in order, plus perhaps making the instructions clearer. Quote: For some translations an explanation is needed. For example "Boxset special". You could provide it in the Comments section of the resource file. Yeah, that would require an extra column in Xlator, too. I didn't think it was needed for this translation, but I guess it might be a good thing. Btw, "Boxset special" is in the Main Selection tab. I'll tweak Xlator and the instructions some more. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar | | | Last edited: by GSyren |
