Good luck, W0m6at! Let us know how it went, will you?

It turns out the job I thought I was interviewing for, they want someone who does NOT have a degree, so I ended up having a generic interview and filling out forms for the job placement agency, then another interview and some basic admin tests (45wpm, 100% accuracy ) so I might be able to get some temp work while I apply for longer term prospects. Last night we had the hottest overnight minimum temperature ever recorded for Adelaide: 33.9ºC (93ºF) Does anyone have any good tips for keeping cool? PS - Hot water comes out of both taps Good luck with the job hunting. Tips for keeping cool in a heatwave (I'm from Brisbane so we get a few with high levels of humidity): 1. Get an air conditioner; 2. If 1 is not possible, find a relative or friend with one and visit them; 3. If 1 or 2 aren't an option, go to the shops; 4. When you aren't doing 1,2 or 3 drive around in an air conditioned car/bus/train; 5. Take lots of cool showers; 6. Sit in front of or under a fan; and 7. Get a childs blow-up wading pool, an outdoor umbrella and set it up somewhere outside in the shade and sit in that under a lawn sprinkler (surprisingly a popular option up here. Must be the heat). | | | Last edited: by Telecine |

| Posted: | | | | Hope you'll find something soon, W0m6at! And if you're going for temp work at this time anyway, I'd say: try solving your heat problem in one go! Like: quality inspector in an ice-cream factory... DJ |

Thankfully we have dry heat down here. I can't stand humid heat! I have an aircon (refridgerative), but it sometimes struggles. I'm sure I'll survive. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

Someone I used to work with saw it and said a CGI canyon was added in!
Meanwhile, I'm over this 44ºC (111ºF for those in the US) maximum, and I've done my best to keep indoors. I have seen "Australia" and I thought it wasn't too bad even though the first part of the movie I was under the impression it was a comedy! The romance between Hugh and Nicole was ok although it did look like both characters at one point were going to die at different times. Brandon Walters as Nullah was probably the best person in the movie. David Wenham as Neil Fletcher is the main villain and Bryan Brown as King Carney is the support villain, and they both look like they are having a whale of a time. Basically it is a fairytale and has no reality to the real world much like its use of, as its main theme The Wizard of Oz. No comparison though. The great thing is at 2hrs and 30mins it did not outstay it's welcome. |

| Posted: | | | | It was 45.1ºC (120ºF for those in the US) here in Melbourne today; just a half a degree off the hottest day in recorded history for Melbourne. Even with the airconditioner going at full bore it was still 30ºC inside! I spent the day inside watching the cricket. | | | In the end; Winning is the only safety. Kerr Avon Blakes 7 Series 4, Ep. You guys have my sympathy! I suppose like us (although at the opposite extreme) you have a string of coldies in a row. We have "heatwaves". Remembering that Adelaide (where I am) already has had quite a number of hot days running, here's the forecast: Today Precis Dry. Mostly sunny. City: Max 40 Sunday Dry. Mostly sunny. Min 23 Max 40 Monday Dry. Mostly sunny. Min 22 Max 39 Tuesday Dry. Mostly sunny. Min 22 Max 38 Wednesday Dry. Mostly sunny. Min 22 Max 38 Thursday Dry. Mostly sunny. Min 21 Max 37 Friday Dry. Mostly sunny. Min 19 Max 35 If anyone wants those temps in Fahrenheit, here is a converter, or just keep in mind that 38ºC = 100ºF | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | It was 46.4ºC here in Melbourne today! It was the hottest day in recorded history for Melbourne, hotter even than Black Friday in 1939. In fact it's believed to be the hottest Temperature recorded in any Capital City in Australia! Tomorrow is forecast for 24 Degrees; what a relief. | | | In the end; Winning is the only safety.
