Im fuming right now.

ive been a long running user of DVD Profiler on ios since 2011 amassing a DB of 6500+  recently uploads to the cloud do not work so I took the hard decision to migrate to another service...however

I just borrowed a windows laptop from a friend to purchase DVD Profiler so I could locally sync (in the process of trying to fix the ios cloud sync issues i deleted my online backup) and then extract the file to move to another service...On syncing to the newly purchased windows dvd-profiler my DB went from 6513 entries to 360....I cannot politely express how annoyed I am at this, so im choosing not to...But I would VERY MUCH like a comment from Invelos seeing as no one seems to work for them or give a damn anymore!  I would also like a refund for the purchase of the software which has proven to be a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!!!!

Any assistance would be appreciated, but im sure im just howling at the moon given the complete lack of support from them

Addition - Oh well, emailed them with the customer support email address suggested by paypal for license payments and that bounced....Disgusting situation. They should just close down this website and make the app unavailable...

You are correct. It is highly unlikely that you will get a response from the developers.

However, the Windows app works very well.

I don't use the ios app, but I see you have posted in the IOS Technical section. You will likely get some help from the many users here.

Considering the attempt to use the windows app resulted in me loosing 6153 entries in my ios DB, i think id rather start with mymovies or at least a currently supported platform...right now, screw invelos!

I feel your frustration. I think I can explain what happened, but it won't make you happier.

I believe you have fallen victim of a two-way synchronization trap. I don't know for certain how it works, but here is my best guess.

Two-way synchronization is tricky. If a profile exists on both sides, then the profile with the later change date/time wins, and gets synced over to the other side. No problem there. But what if a profile only exists on one side. That means that it was either added to the one side, or was deleted from the other side. How to determine which? I can only assume that it depends on when the missing side's database was last updated. If it was updated before the profile was changed, then it is assumed that the profile was added to the one side, and should be synced.  But if the missing side's database was changed after the profile was last updated, then it is assumed that the profile was deleted from the second side, and should also be deleted from the first side.

If one of the databases is empty, then it is - hopefully - assumed that all profiles from the other side should be synced over. But if you have an almost empty database that has been changed later than the full database, then you are in trouble.

Anyway, that's how I believe it works. If someone has another idea, then let us know.

It was a brand new install of the windows software. So first synchronisation from a iOS DB to an empty windows DB.

Well, in that case it would seem that Ken wasn't as foresightful as I had hoped. I guess he anticipated that the initial sync would be from PC to phone, not the other way around.

The other way to do the initial sync would then be to upload from the phone and then download to the PC. But since this still doesn't seem to be working (I haven't tried it myself), then I guess users in your situation are s**t out of luck. And if you can't upload your collection to the PC, then you can't import your collection to another program.

That sucks! I would be pissed, too, if this had happened to me.

GSyren, your explanation makes no sense. If the initial sync went from a blank PC, as he states, to his full iPhone, his iPhone would be empty as well, not showing 360 items. Something else must be going on.

dvdbloke2206, Were the 360 items added to your iPhone AFTER you installed DVD Profiler on your PC? If so, they would have a newer date stamp than the PC database and GSyren's explanation might hold.

Hi. Nope. DVD profiler on windows is a brand new install/registration.
DB on iOS has been used since 2011 and no new entries in the last 6 weeks or more.

That being said, it does not seem to be a date stamp issue, so ignore my suggestion in the other thread. You need to figure out what makes these 360 items special.

Your online collection also looks weird. It's only showing 40 titles and the title field is blank for all of them.

I tried to recreate your problem. I created a new empty database on my PC and then synced it to an existing full database on my iPad. Sadly, it deleted the entire database on my iPad. While this doesn't explain your 360 issue it does confirm GSyren's hypothesis. I think your fatal error was deleting your online database. I suspect if you had downloaded it to your PC, even though it was out of date, and then synced to your iPhone, it would have updated properly. I don't know what you can do at this time. If I think of anything, I'll let you know.
Since it does seem to be a date stamp issue, my comment on the other thread about setting the clock back on your PC might be worth a try.
