| Posted: | | | | Good day, Movie Buffs!
I'm looking into getting some of the Star Trek series' (TNG, Voyager, etc.) and I find Asian Releases and U.S. Releases. The Asian ones are typically less expensive. Aside from the price, what are the significant differences? Some of the Asian ones claim everything is in English, etc., so what might be the drawbacks of those versions? Maybe they're just a better "value"?
Thanks.

Stimpy, they may be a better value and they may not, hard to say. I will urge caution, don't forget that Asia is the piracy capital of the world. You didn't mention any specific pricing, I would only say if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. If you can post some images, perhaps some of us who are familiar with the world of piracy can help you to ascertain the credibility.

| Posted: | | | | Hi Stimpy, I cannot tell you those are (or are not) bootlegs. The fact that it has original english audio is only natural, so it's no indication. I would however prescribe some caution as 2 things have made the little alarms inside my asia-common-buyer brain start ringing, namely: - Both sellers on eBay are new sellers with 0 (zero) trade feedback! - I have made a little round for my known Asian shops from where I regularly buy in Japan, S. Korea, Hong-Kong, Malaysia & China, and I found them in both Hong-Kong and Japan. Detail here is they cost $130 per season ($150 if Japanese ed.), not $80 for the 7 seasons like those from eBay. Thus, my radar is beeping bootleg all the way. If you, however, could ask the gentlemen from which Asian country in particular are these "official Asian editions" from, that might help us on determining something with a bigger degree of safety. I don't think they'll like the question, though... | | | With every passing hour our solar system comes forty-three thousand miles closer to globular cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules, and still there are some misfits who continue to insist that there is no such thing as progress. |

| Posted: | | | | I bought six seasons of ST:TNG in one pop; thinking I was getting a great deal from over seas... they appear in my opinion to be bootlegs. Some of the discs have been known to be missing anywhere from seconds to 5 minutes of the ends of certain episodes. The credits cut off in others. They are not packaged well. They come stacked in a cardboard box Each disc is inside a plastic type bag or wrapper. Check out this guide for more info. They are constant reminders that I still want to get the domestic releases. I wish I hadn't purchased these 'eBay knock-offs!" The authentic US release DVDs are worth the higher price in all-around quality! Anyhow here are a couple pics of how badly the eBay 'Asian Imports' are packaged. All seven dvds are crammed into two plastic sleeves. | | | "It's gonna be pee-pee pants city here real soon!"—Negan |

My bad. I knew they did comparisons of all the regions but hadn't actually gone to look at the Star Trek list. Like others have said I would be very cautious of Ebay dvds. | | | Paul |
