When first installing DVD Pro 3.0 in March and migrating my 800 odd profiles over from 2.4, which I still have running by the way for now, I noticed a number of titles not in the new database. Ok, fine. Here I had an opportunity to contribute profiles not present. I was doing this on an ongoing basis with only a small number of submissions in the interim.

My question: is there a need to continue this if there is to be a merge of the old 2.4 db from the Intervocative site into 3.0?  Wouldn't all those profiles I had in 2.4 and NOT in 3.0 now come over into 3.0?  This task is no longer necessary from my viewpoint. From what I see only new DVDs acquired from this point forward not in the Invelos DB would be submitted.

I'm not sure what is planned for this "merge" so further information may answer this query but a heads up would be appreciated.

Based on what Ken posted, it seems like he is going to have the old db merged into the new one within a week. So if you don't want to bother contributing things should be as they were soon. But, if you want to take the time to add Country of Origin and do any other editing to bring the profiles up to comply with the new rules your efforts would be appreciated by other users who have the same titles.

Chaz:

Without more information it is hard to tell. If you have titles with bad or bogus UPCs, or pirated movies which use a fictional UPC or anything else that might not pass through whatever filter Ken uses, then they will probbaly not make the move. Ther are numerous titles in the old Db which will not crossover for these and other reasons, I would suggest Contributing the data. We also do not know when Ken will make the transition, it may be a while.

Sounds reasonable. I guess I will continue perusing my collection appropriately.  Rest assured there are no "pirated" titles here fella.
