Despite my many years of owning Profiler I have never needed to use the report function.
However, due to the ever-increasing size of my collection I have now decided to change my storage and will be using the 'Location & Slot No.' functions.
With that in mind I went to download some reports I could have a look at...only to find that no matter what I do the reports won't download or open.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Also, I'm thinking of have a go at designing a report for myself, but don't have the first idea how to do it....has anyone written a 'Profiler Reports for Dummies' guide they can point me to?
Thanks for any help forthcoming!

| | Posted: | | | | Are you sure they are not downloading? I believe in the new version they go right to the proper directory on their own. The only way to "open" one is to go to the reports feature of the program. You cant open it and look at it without going through the program. To use one: sort or filter your collection how you want, then click on the printer icon (doing this from memory  ) You should get a list of the available reports. Even if you can't download any new ones, you should be able to access the couple of default ones that install with the program. Try to open at least one of the defaults. If you are still having trouble then just holler. They really are fairly easy to do some basic editing and revising. They're definitely not downloading...I think it could be because I loaded Profiler onto my D drive...while the reports function seems to go to my old C Drive...which doesn't actually have the .exe file anymore.
Any suggestions?

Then you should see a confirmation message on the download page that the report was successfully downloaded. If you still can't find the reports, use "file find" and search for [ *.dpr ]. I use XP on the D drive and they download to D:\My Documents\...\DVD Profiler folder. I dual boot Vista on the E drive and they download to E:\Users\...\Documents.
So if you see the download success message you should have them. I think you may be looking in the DVD Profiler file directory instead of where they are stored in the My Documents folder. | | | | -Jerry in NW Florida |

If I go to the reports page in my browser (seamonkey) and click the download link on any report, it opens a window to say the report will download in a moment then gives me the save dialog box, with the option to save the file named 'download'.
I can then save as to anywhere I want to, once downloaded all I need to do is double click the file to install the report. | | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

I looked everywhere, including the imbeded so-called "Help", Where can one find all of the Object Element names and meaning?? i.e. DVDDiscs1, DVDNotes1 etc  I would like to design my own reports, but I don't want to have to disect every report ever created to find the meaning of objects. There must be a table of names and examples someplace? Where is it hidden, what is it called. It isn't a sticky in the Report Forum. |
