Hello,

on several occasions I recently read about The Legend of the Full Audit.

For I have never seen one with my own eyes:

What exactly is a full audit of a DVD?

I then could do some of those for relaxation in between the thousand contributions in September.

Thank you.

I could be mistaken, but I think a full audit means you check EVERY aspect of a certain DVD's profile and correct/update/add whatever is necessary.

I think you're right - if a user checks and corrects every bit of information, then they call it an audit.

Are you trying to succeed the infamous Tuvok?

If you don't understand the terms used around here, why not look them up in a dictionary? There's no "Legend of a full audit", there are users doing them.

When contributing changes to existing profiles I always do a full audit.

I've only recently began to add 'FULL AUDIT' to my contribution notes though...

I checked 'The Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English' before, they describe 'audit' as 'official examination', therefore I asked.

Somehow I liked the idea of doing official examinations here...

You don't me to do an "official" examination. As he pulls on his latex gloves.

A Full Title Audit is simply as stated a top to bottom examination of every field per Profiler's Rules, no one elses.

It's the only "credible" way to do it. How do you get all the real info if you don't audit your DVD contribution?

Quick definitions (audit)

noun:  a methodical examination or review of a condition or situation (Example: "He made an audit of all the plants on his property")

Do you have in mind to contribute them one day or other?

How else can it be that from 500 german locality profiles at first glance 400 are obviously uncorrect or incomplete?

Not at all; I often check and correct specific aspects of a profile without doing a 'Full Audit' and (for example) checking that the whole cast/crew lists are exactly as on the disc.

... and I've even been known to contribute CoO and SRPs of discs I don't even own... because that data is not on the disc anyway!

I was talking about a new profile contribution, not about a profile updating.

Every new DVD that I buy gets a full audit by me.  In most cases, I do my own profiles even before checking to see if they are already in the database.  Even doing updates for submission, I always check the entire profile, albeit not quite as rigoorously as an initial profile.
