When the price of Oil was around the $75.00 U.S. mark,, the price of a litre of gas in my part of Canada here was about $1.28 to $1.31...cdn  Now the price of Oil is what,?  around $92.00 a barrel and the price of that same  litre of gas?    $1.09.

Oh yeah I forgot .. The conversion of a Canadian dollar now to the US buck is $1.0525

I have friends driving up from the States next weekend for a wedding. I told them to fill up just before they crossed the border and to try very hard not to fill up again until they were safely back in their own country. That exchange rate is gonna be killer for them.

Skip,

You don't know how right you are.  The Planet Terror Steel Book @ Best Buy was returned to the manufacturer after it failed to sell because the difference between it and the special edition was the steel case and 5 more dollars.  Manufacturers are planning on raising prices of DVD's again.  Look at License to Wed the new Robin William film which debuted @ 17.99 just because it starred Williams and Mandy Moore.  A year ago this movie would have easily been in the 14.99 pile. Even Spider-man was expensive this time around @ 24.99 for the 2 disc special edition.  The last one released at the end of Sept. 05 only cost 19.99 on release day.  If the manufacturers think we will give them a penny more they WILL tack it on.

Its because of fuel prices that DVDs are going up. Remember on majority of the cases they use plastic, which is made from oil, if I remember right, which means they will go up to since the cost of manufacturing is going up.

Add to that the fact that the delivery trucks don't run on fresh air either.

But then again we here in the UK have been paying higher prices than our US cousin's for quite some time now, ours has been hovering around the £5 a gallon for over a year (approx $10.41 current exchange rates).

So time to get the old Pack Horses out of retirement.

Exactly. Over here in the Netherlands, you'd pay the equivalent of USD 8.27 for one US liquid gallon. And then we're still benefiting from the dollar's current exchange rate (low against the euro).

So if YOU guys in the US and Canada think you have reason to complain, think again.
