| Posted: | | | | Looking to buy Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds (either 1 or 2 disc version).,, I see it is on HD TV tonight for 2 hours.,, ( will be taping this on TIVO).,, But can't find anything available on North American Soil.. Deep discount and amazon.ca has nothing on this... It was released in the UK on Pal DVD back in late 2006,, here is the link.,, I loved the 1978 double vinyl Music album but this stage version looks interesting... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I have the UK 2-Disc-Version: Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds: Live on Stage!: 2-Disc Special Edition Regions: 2, 4 Released: 06.11.2006 Anamorphic 1.78:1 The stage-show is nice, the computer-grafics only average IMHO, but the sound is effing great If "Ulla!" in 5.1 dts doesn't send shivers down your spine, your dead! A little strange that this title didn't made it to the US ... copyright-issues maybe? But maybe this changes, now that it was broadcasted. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

Well, first problem is that most US-hardware doesn't handle PAL, because the whole R1-Zone is NTSC only. R2 on the other hand has PAL and NTSC (Japan) so a lot of the hardware can handle both formats from the start. Hooray for Blu-ray in that respect, we only have to think about the pesky region code there. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | most dvd-players bios can be re-flashed or set region free. If you search on brand + model number (LG DVX298H) you're most likely to find an answer. Still your player should understand PAL/NTSC | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | Well the broadcast was Great,, except they only had Dolby surround and not 5.1 sound.., and there was one tiny 'hiccup' in the audio near the beginning of the concert.. But the Show was, to me as entertaining as 'The Wall' Live in Berlin' was, ( and that DVD is available).. So.., a Day later and countless thread searches on Google I have yet to find out why there is no North American release... I did find and contacted their Web site sales and pitched the idea to them about NTSC DVD sales have yet to hear back from them.. But in the meanwhile I transferred over the HD broadcast to a DVD and used one of my tags that says.... DVDR .... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Well I got one answer back from someone in the know in Great Britain,, and the their quote to me is: "I'm afraid a North American/Region 1 DVD of the Tour won't happen. This is, I'm told, due to the distributors, not anything else. Trust me, this is something that has been asked about and addressed many times before. " ( unquote) So I'm wondering to those in the know who Know ,, What could possibly be up with a decision such as this? How many other titles are we being kept away from on this side of the ocean? I mean I thought We had the majority of great performances and special TV broadcasts of special events and other popular choices .,, . ( BBC video -Planet Earth/ The Beatles Anthology /Music for Montserrat) to name three...... I.E. are there any North American events captured on DVD that our European Region 2 friends can't get from us.... ?? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
