Several others have menioned this problem of different artwork.

Other repositories have a similar problem; I'm thinking in particular of LibraryThing, a repository for managing your books. Book publishers think nothing of slapping on a new dust cover (or new softcover cover) with different artwork and sending it to the New table at Barnes & Noble as a marketing ploy. Folks are often thus tricked into thinking it a new Dirk Pitt book and plopping it into their shopping basket. I have fallen for this myself more than once!

LibraryThing solves this by having a suggested cover associated with each UPC, but also a collection of other artwork, obtained from Amazon.com or contributed by user scans from which the user can pick another cover pix that matches his particular volume.

Could DVDP do something similar?

I can't provide you a specific answer, but an educated guess. Yes it is possible to do, but you are talking about far more storage ability at Invelos end. This is an OLD request and perhaps someday...but on the basis of history. I suspect that Invelos resources could be limited or it could be one of the features planned to roll out with the DVD Profiler Plus product, which no one but Ken has much of a clue about, except perhaps thatseems to be imminent and is apparently planned as a subscription over above the base program,

I can certainly appreciate the anticipated server storage problems.
Oh, well. One can only hope, then!

Crap...should have read Ken's post first...held my breath, passed out and hit my head on the keyboard.

No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I agree with dav4is.  I think this is a great idea.  I hope anyone involved has better info on this but is just keeping it close to the chest.  I would even be willing to kick Ken some cash or a shiny new 1 TB drive to help out.

On a similar subject (yes I know, it's a feature request); how about creating an option for our online collection to display "custom covers"? By default every cover scans shown in the online collection is taken from an Invelos folder. Could just let each user specify a custom folder to get the images from (of course, you will need to upload your own cover scans to your own server or hosting services, but the images is stored locally in a folder with names corresponding to the UPC number, so it's easy to just redirect to a different folder without any problems).

Could be an option to display higher quality scans (and scans different from the ones on Invelos) without using Ken's (probably expensive) bandwidth.

Absolutely NOT, Beastus. If you are familiar with the history of custom covers and Hollywood, they ytake a very dim view of such things and have shut down numerous such sites. already. All that would do is turn Profiler into a lightning rod  for Hollywood to strike at and then we lose everything. Custom Covers...keep them to yourself...locally, sorry.

Sorry, I should rephrase that. By "custom covers" I just meant that as an description to the feature, as opposed to "Invelos server cover".

Use MGM and Paramount as an example. Lots of titles were reissued under the same UPC but with new cover art. Although now you mention it, we could risk some people uploading some questionable covers. I myself only use the cover art issued by the studio, but I do see that this could open up for people uploading all kinds of images. But it has to of course be hosted at our own hosting services.

I would also like to add my vote to the ability to configure my iOS profiler to use custom cover images of my own.  I have my own server, so there is no storage hit on Invelos' side.  The Hollywood marketing machine often chooses horrible covers for some of their titles.  OCEAN'S 11 had a fantastic poster (see below), but they just *had* to show all the stars' faces on the official dvd cover.  I'd much prefer to see my own custom covers when browsing through my collection on my iPad, and I'm fine with storing such covers on my own private web server.  It'd be a great feature to add to an already great DVD library tool.
