A great loss. He was good in nearly everything he did and a gentleman to go with it. I particularly liked him in Homicide.

If you look at my Avatar you'll notice Bud in the blue suit in Homicide from about 1973; Left to Right:
George Mallaby ...  Det. Sgt. Peter Barnes
Charles 'Bud' Tingwell ...  Insp. Reg Lawson
John Stanton ...  Sen. Det. Pat Kelly
Gary Day ...  Sen. Det. Phil Redford
In the end; Winning is the only safety.

I have to say it is also sad loss to Australia as a whole because he was up there always plying his trade as actor, writer, director, producer in so many productions you just never seemed to know when or when he was going to turn up!

I had the great pleasure in meeting him several times over the years at things like The Royal Flying Doctor Service annual thing?!?! Name escapes me at the moment, and at the Australian Centre of th Moving Image.
At these events he was delightful, witty, insightful and charming. I remember attending a Thunderbird 1 movie showing and afterwards he was surrounded by people and it was no effort to speak to them or sign Books / DVD.The one thing I wish I had got round to seeing was his one man play "The Carer"

Also it was odd as I was up to watching one of his Hammer films last night, Dracula: Prince of Darkness which he turned in another great performance.

RIP.
