Hi, yesterday I have started reentering my collection directly through the iPad App. Yes I did sync my collection with the desktop once, but I decided it's time for a restart.

Well, like the topic says I tried to enter the Original Titel of this BR
http://www.amazon.com/Hatsune-Blu-ray-Kansyasai-Project-presents/dp/B0042LQ1CE/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_6
via copy paste from the safari browser from Amazon.co.jp.
Since the UPC is yet unknown I tried to set it up manually this way. But whenever I tap on the entry to edit it further the App crashes.

So the question is, ist it the Kanji in the titel that causes the problem, or does this happen with all manualy created profiles?

DVDP desktop version doesn't support unicode, only western standard characters. Any kind of character that is Japanese, Korean or other is not supported and causes errors in the software and corruption in the database (trust me, I've often tried to make it work, to no avail)

I'm afraid the same goes for the app version.

By the way, found the UPC for you:
4560248015069

From this site:
http://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/dss/vgdv-60001.html

What you need to do when looking for Japanese barcodes is type this in any search engine (Google or Yahoo Japan work best for me) :
JAN (which is Japanese abreviation for UPC) followed by a space and then the title (in japanese) you're looking for, followed by Blu-ray in katakana

Hope that helps!

Hello Taro,
thanks for the reply. I kinda feared as much.
However, of course I know the UPC since I have the original BR here. What I meant was that it is yet unknown in the profiler Database! ...Yet

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were looking for the UPC so you could add it to your wishlist as well as the online database.

Anyway, best thing to do, is like I do: romanize everything. There's no rules regarding which romanization method to use, but I personally tend to stick with Waapuro as it most closely sticks to the actual writing rather than the more 'western' romanization methods:
e.g.
Kitarou vs Kitaro
Ookami vs Okami
etc

But, you're free to choose whichever you like.
