I'm running DVDP on evaluation mode to test the new features, and downloaded several headshots.dpd  files found in the forums, but after numerous searches and reading many topics including DVDP 'help' section, I can't figure out how to open and use the dpd files...

anyone can point me to a topic that explains how to use these files and how to use the Database feature in general under "File' I can't find any 'help' documentation. Thanks

*.dpd-files are backup-up files of DVDP, you can restore them as explained in this post:
http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=524097

(I don't know if this works at the unregistred version, but it should)

Edit: Changed not working link. See post number 2 in the thread. Or the post from Terry below.

link won't open ..

simple answer is.. download the .dpd .. save on desktop for easy retrieval later .., then open up your database and then click to restore the database . .BUT only activate the ( uncheck all others) additional files - Gallery Photos .. Browse to- and find the file you saved to desktop - and click to activate .

This will enable your profiler to check and install the newer and improved head shots that others have assembled for us .. 99 times out of 100 I have the newer head shots to be an improvement .. But you may want to monitor the upload for yourself .....

Thanks guys, I noticed the link didn't work last night, but I was loading a backlog of DVds profiles 'till 5 am, and was too late to tackle the dpb issue at that time...

I still not 100% clear, so the headshot.dpb file is MERGED into the existing DVDP Data Base folder?

Or do I need to create a new/fresh DB folder with different name?

I guess I'll try it now and see , since I'm only working with 50 profiles in this PC and can always start from scratch again from the Backup if I mess up the DB.

Thanks guys, everything works fine, I wrote a detailed explanation/post for others but the forum crashed after "SUBMIT" and everything was lost.

For the benefit of others that might stumble here with the same issue

Basically all the headshot.DPB folder(S) need to be 'restore' and will be merged to the main "DEFAULT" DB folder..

Nice feature, this new version is a great improvement over the the old 2.4 version I stopped using in 2007

I'll go ahead and order the program key, although I must admit, I have some reservations about the future of the user-dependent online profile DB.....but....

It's been going great for over 10 years.  Sure I see people getting frustrated and leaving due to various issues.  But someone else is always there to pick up the slack.  So while it has problems, I'm not sure what causes you to have reservations.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.

I'm probably getting ahead of myself...but unfortunatelyy more and more people are moving to streaming, sales of DVDs are plunging and Blu is not doing as well as predicted either...

Given these facts, will the availability of fan-generated DVDP profiles stay at today's level in the near future?

Or will the (relatively few) users contributing to the online DB stop purchasing discs and therefore affect the availability of future releases?..

I know I can always create my own, but I used this program for years, and confess I never had the patience needed to create a profile, (I submitted just one profile back in the day but was rejected)
