Got the iphone app using an iphone 4 latest IOS update. Running Windows 7. Downloaded the app, scanned blurays into a database called "Bluray". Downloaded PC software. Set up sharing, updated database on iphone to PC. Update was successful. Created a new database on iphone. Scanned over 200 DVDs. Created New database on PC software. opened DVD database on iphone. Selected Update with intentions to update the DVD database on iPhone to PC. Connected is checked, sending starts working, app crashes. It will send a few at a time, anywhere from 1 to 5 or so, then app crashes. Images are turned off. I've rebooted my PC, closed the app on the multitask bar and rebooted the iPhone (all at the same time) nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas? Could it be having more than one database?
Hope someone can help with this, I kinda like this app.

Thanks

Okay, you already tried almost all of my usual suggestions.

More than one database shouldn't cause the problem. I think other users mentioned having multiple databases.

Try a database repair on the PC database. If a corrupt entry causes the problems that should fix it. Unfortunately you can only repair the profiles already on your PC. If the corrupt profile is on the phone, you're out of luck and a more radical solution is needed.

As far as I can tell, everyone with syncing problems uses a database that originated on the iOS device and not on the PC. Unless someone has a better idea, I would suggest deleting the database that causes problems on your iPhone and PC, create the database again on the PC and sync this new database with the iPhone. Of course that would mean you need to scan 200 DVDs again. Not exactly an ideal solution.

Crash statistics, iOS5

174 crashes under the last 30 days period.

What have I been doing to get 174 crashes?

Browsing the collecton a few times a week and added in total 15 new titles (I have around 300 titles).

This is THE most unstable app that I have on my iPhone...

I have 3,300 in my collection and have never had an issue. The first thing I would suggest is if you haven't run the database repair tool on your collection you should (Tools>Options>Utilities>Repair Profile Database). Once that is complete delete the collection from the pad/phone and try a new sync. Let us know.

thankyou for your post...

I have tried a repair, didnt help one bit. I notice you say you have never had one crash, your signature only says ipads. do you mean you have scanned in discs via the iphone, and been able to synch back to a pc without crashes. that is the problem I am having.

deleting the whole database on he phone is not at all preferable. the pc only has 455 titles. the iphone has 473. how am I to know which titles the pc doesnt have on them. not really too keen to rescan my entire collection either. and deleting the iphone database is just going to always leave me wondering which are missing.

not very happy at all !

I am a long time user of Profiler, I had my database LONG before my IOS device, I have never scanned in a profile, they were all entered manually on the PC. If you sort your profiles in both devices in alphabetical order it should be reasonably easy to scan through them and jot down whatever is missing from the computer. MOST  of the extraneous crashes on the IOS devices appear to be caused by corrupt data which can usually be fixed using the method I described. I understand you are not happy about the prospect of having to reenter data but unfortunately I have no alternate solution for you. There appears to be some issues with barcode scanning that causes a problem with some of the data which in turn causes the crashes you are experiences. Even if there was a fix implemented for the scanning portion of the program, the data you have already scanned in would still have corruption. I hope that you can sort this out and I would be happy to answer any other question you have. While this program does have it's litle flaws it is still the best out there in my opinion. Good luck

thanks again. just spent the last hour going through one by one to identify the titles that havent synched back to the pc. I guess have no alternative but to delete the database on the iphone and then synch back from the pc to the iphone. I hope that works !

It is a real pity the scanning from the iphone and then synching bsack to the pc is so flaky ! It was the whole reason I bought the app was since it is so easy to scan in new titles with their barcodes. it would never have occured to me once scan them in synching across to the pc would be such a problem which appears invelos still dont seem to have any issue with.

ps synch from my pc to ipad has always been 100% reliable no issue. now if only they can fix up the synch from iphone to pc !

Unfortunately this app hasn't been updated in over a year and uses another app (Pic2Shop) to do the actual scanning, I assume that if there were any changes made to that app it might affect the data input to your Profiler on the phone I truly wish Ken would finally give us an update, wev'e been through several IOS updates in that time and that may also play a role in what is happening. Take care.

yes a year is a an eternity with this kind of stuff. hopefully someone realises how unreliable it is in how functions as far as synch and can get it sorted with an update.

have deleted the database in my iphone and synched back from pc to iphone. bed time now. tomorrow I'll start adding in titles via the iphone and see if can then synch back the changes to the pc. I hope just dont end up in the same bother after that !

I wouldn't call it 'flaky', it just, for some reason, doesn't work for you.  I use my iPhone 4 to scan in discs and have transfered them to my PC without any issues.  I have never has a single crash either.
