| Posted: | | | | Saw a page on this elsewhere, but it can only be added onto by established memebers with a apid account. At this point I'm not sure that DVD Profiler is for me or not, unless I can sort this out.
I have quite a substantial library, across BD, DVD, VHS, VCD and V2000. I'm looking for somethign to handle them all. I found out how to add new media options to the program, but can;t find out how to add films in these new added formats. When I go to add to collection, it still only comes up at the default settings. No option for what I've added. Cant find any help anywhere on how to add titles I have in the other formats. Could somebody please give me some info on how to add other format titles to the profiler? Thanks |

| Posted: | | | | Only DVD, HDDVD and BD is in the online database of titles. For other formats you need to create your own profile. You can do this two ways (that I know of)... Add by title and uncheck Download from Invelos (bottom left of screen)... this will give you an empty profile you can build from scratch. Or you can add by title... find a DVD for that title to download... and change all differences locally only. You can not add this info to the online database. So after making your changes remember to lock the profile so it don't get overwritten. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Other formats such as VHS, LaserDisc, CED and any other than DVD, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD will have to be added manually. No automatic download from the online database.
To do this, on the Add DVD tab uncheck the Download profile from Invelos (either by title or UPC#), enter either the UPC# or the title in manually. Once done, click on the Add Now button as usual.
Of course all data, cover art will have to be added to the profile manually since these formats aren't supported (and likely never will) by Invelos.
Some data can be copied from current profiles for the same title, such as cast/crew, and film data such as year, running time and other data.
Of course none of these 'other formats' profiles can be contributed. |

| Posted: | | | | Brilliant, thanks for that. Now once I've got the program up and running, I can access it from my PS3, to save me going to my library? Can I add new Genres and sort via them? I want a 3D section |

Click on Edit Custom Genres, Click Add and in the Blue Highlighted section enter your new Genre and then OK. |

| Posted: | | | | - 3D section maybe added for the next release. (I thought there was a post from Ken on this?!) Until it's in database as normal Bluray. (Of course you can still add a custom media type to them) - You can add custom genres. Srting should also work with them. - As far as I know you can't access your collection from a PS3. - For your "old" media types, there was somewhere a thread with the symbols, you could use for your custom media types. (If I'll find some time I'll have a look for it) ... And now buy it. |

| Posted: | | | | To Sort by Genre click on Collection on the toolbar, Click on Sort by and choose Genre
Or to see just the 3D genre click on Filters near the bottom by the Collection List tab, choose Genre and click on 3D and only the profiles with 3D will be shown.
Of note is that the next program update will have 3D added as a format/feature (not sure which). |

| Posted: | | | | i tried a demo of an oldeer version on an old pC, and could access the collection from my PS3. The layout was different, and it was a read-only, not editable like the PC interface. It's useless to me if I cant view it on the PS3 (Or smart TV when I get one), as the idea of getting it was so I could view my library from the TV room |

| Posted: | | | | Hi ! You may access a read-only web-page (AKA the Online Collection) at: http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/{username} (ie. http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/Eidolon_UK for your user) after a) buying license & b) uploading your collection. Quoting VirusPil: Quote: ... ... And now buy it. ( Feel free to look at mine at: here ) [EDIT] You may try uploading a collection, with a limit of 50, w/o buying license. Look here! | | | Karsten | | | Last edited: by karstenp |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the help. It doesn;t seem to show any of the images I've uploaded for titles or formats that aren;t on the database. IS there a way to select genre or format from the 'online' viewing option that I'm using on the PS3? Can't seem to find an option for that. Thanks. Also it seems to list all comonents of box sets individually, wehich I dont like. It's good on the default option, but causing a lot of excessive clogging on the 'online view' | | | Last edited: by Eidolon_UK |

| Posted: | | | | You're correct on all counts, I'm afraid. An upgrade of the on-line collection feature is long overdue. Some years ago an on-line service called DPO Plus was mentioned as being in the works, but we haven't heard anything about it for ages. P.S. There are alternatives out there, such as phpDVDProfiler. Personally, I'm not familiar with those. Perhaps some fellow users can assist. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | I'm using an old version of phpDVDprofiler and it works really good, with some fancy statistic and so on but you need a server with a database and php, you can find some free hosting that propose you but you will require few minutes to setup but in this case you will manage exactly was you have in your collection with the chosen pictures if you want to have a look http://dedcap.free.fr/phpdvdprofiler | | | Last edited: by Dedcap |

| Posted: | | | | Out of curiosity, what is the reason why VHS/LD/etc are not supported with the DVD Profiler online database?
With the software there has never been an implication that all DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray titles are in the online database--but if a title isn't there, a user can add it himself, scan the cover, etc., and submit it to the database for others to benefit. I view earlier formats in much the same vein.
The suggestion in this thread is that each user is free to add old media to his own database, but not to share the scans and data with others. Is it difficult for Invelos to allow those old media records to be shared? I'm curious what the issues are. I'd be happy to submit the LaserDisc version of Star Wars to the database (Han shot first).
The only thing I can come up with is that if a user was trying to add a title by name, there could be additional entries shown for VHS/LD/Beta releases, and this might lead to confusion. | | | Last edited: by rjyanco |

| Posted: | | | | DVD Profiler started out as, well, DVD Profiler.
It was only when HD-DVDs and Blu-rays became common that it even started to allow other format types (namely HD-DVD and Blu-ray).
Now it's probably just for convience not to allow these old and frankly outdated format types. Because you'd need icons and checkboxes and contribution checks and ... I assume it's just not worth the hassle.
The user has the ability to profile it locally, there's just no central support for it. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | It is against the current Rules for contributions that Invelos said we must follow.... in the What to Contribute SectionQuote: "DVD Video, HD-DVD Video, and Blu-ray Video" discs (including MiniDVD): These discs contain movies, television shows, music performances and other professionally-produced and sold DVDs. No CDs, DVD-Audio discs, video games, Video CDs, or VHS titles will be accepted. As to their reasoning... only Invelos can say for sure. But I for one would guess it is for two reasons... 1. They are basically dead formats 2. With every format added the database size could potentially double But they did make sure you could add any format you like locally. As for sharing profiles... while it can't be done through the online database... they can still be shared. Just like on the forum we share things such as... - Manual profiles (each movie for disc that has 2 or more movies on one side of the disc and such) - Head shots - Gallery Images - Episode Guides - Etc. etc. etc. While it may not be ideal... it is more then possible. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |
