| Posted: | | | | Just started having major issues with my DVD Profiler install. Everything was peachy until I accidentally deleted my layout. Re-established the layout, everything appeared fine. Then odd things started happening: DVD Profiler would freeze, I'd get a double entry in my collection listing, just weird little things that a database repair would appear to fix. Now I've just purchased The Sorcerer's Apprentice (3-Disc BD/DVD/Digital Copy), I entered the UPC, it downloaded the profile and appeared to install it, but the new BD would not show up in the collection listing. Tried entering it again, DVD Profiler tells me it's already there, yet it isn't. I've done several database repairs, I tried restoring the previous database and adding the new BD again, it appears to be added but still does not show up in the list. Since I had to do a restore database, I also had to mark a couple of DVDs as watched (since I hadn't backed up in a couple of days), now 4 other DVDs which were not marked as watched suddenly are marked as watched with today's date. I've removed the History event for the 4 erroneous entries but they still show as Watched in the collection listing even though they have no History event attached to them! I've even gone as far as to uninstall DVD Profiler and reinstall it, restoring my existing database, but that hasn't changed the odd behaviour, and after adding The Sorcerer's Apprentice once again, it still does not show up in the collection listing. What in the bloody hell is going on here??? | | | Time is the fire in which we burn. (Soran) | | | Last edited: by kd5 |

| Posted: | | | | Well, while trying to figure out what was going on I decided to do a complete uninstall, removing EVERYTHING (I'd copied my current database to my desktop), cleaned up junk files, cleaned up errant registry entries, uninstalled a plugin that got left behind, rebooted, then reinstalled DVD Profiler from SCRATCH. Got my layout back the way I want it, restored my latest database, entered the few watched by's I missed since my last update, exited, brought DVDP back up, I was able to delete the errant History events successfully this time, created a fresh backup, exited, brought it back up, re-entered The Sorcerer's Apprentice, once again it was nowhere to be found. Thanks to my wife, this time I did a Search for The Sorcerer's Apprentice and found it in the middle of my collection (I swear I didn't see it anywhere last time). Turns out that when I'd sold one of my DVDs and removed it from my collection, I didn't re-assign collection numbers like I usually do, removing the gap, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice was placed in that gap. Dummy me. At least by doing all this I was able to remove those errant History events this time, and I have a tad more confidence that my current install is more stable than it was before, even if it was my own ignorance that caused The Sorcerer's Apprentice to appear as if it wasn't anywhere to be found... | | | Time is the fire in which we burn.
