Hi,

I have a BR drive but no proper playing software. I play my BRs on a "real" player on my TV.

Is there a tool like DVD Decrypter where I can easily determine the running times and regions of a BR disc?

AnyDVD HD (possibly in combination with BDInfo).
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

That's what I use too. If you use BDInfo without AnyDVD HD though, it can sometimes scan a disc forever and overload the memory.

Mediadogg's Profile Contribution Assistant can also do the job.

DVDPca was built using the open source from both DVDINFO and BDINFO plus another IFO scanner I found out there, as well as Microsoft's DirectShow API. I spent a lot of time, with testing done by the guys here, to get running times as accurate as possible. And there is a simple way you can override and adjust what is included, with auto recalc. DVDPca runs in both standalone and plugin modes, but BD disc ID can only be obtained in plugin mode.

I also think I fixed some of those overrun situations where the IFO scan leads you into loops or dead ends.

DVDPca will also create a template profile by filling in whatever other metadata it can find from the DVD/BD disk. In the best (rare) case that I have seen, in addition to running times and discID, you can get the DVD Title, a  couple of cast / crew, all the subtitles and video and audio formats and some special features. Of course, usually, it is somewhat less than that. Depends on what the DVD encoder decided to use.

If you decide to try it, please report any issues in the DVDPca thread.
Thanks for your support.
