Is it possible to change the default media type when i add a new profile?

Whenever i add a new profile, dvdprofiler automatically adds the new profile as a dvd.
Since i collect about 99% Blu-rays i think it's annoying that i always have to manually change
it from DVD to Blu-ray. I have looked through all the settings of the old and the new version
(3.9) but could not find any matching setting.

That's a good question.  I haven't found an option that lets you do this, although it doesn't mean that it doesn't already exist, but I too find this annoying since 99.99% of new profiles I create are Blu-ray related.

If this change is made it needs to be an option as 100% of new profiles I create are DVDs.

I'd like to have that option, too. Good idea, corleone!

This sounds like a good option to include in a new release
As I am now shifting more towards collecting movies in the Blu-Ray format I find the need to have an option where I am aware from the list as to whether I should look in my DVD cupboard or in my Blu-Ray cupboard for the title of the movie I wish to watch
Better still is to be able to produce lists of DVD collection as well as a separate list of Blu-Ray format for the collection

Just wondered how feasible this would be and whether this could become a new feature in upcoming releases ???

You can use tags for this, or create custom collection categories.  Set them as part of owned and you can view them all together, or distinct.

I'm having a similar problem.

All additions are defaulting to Blu-Ray format and DVD format. Even when I'm adding by disc, it still defaults to the Blu/DVD format.

Never had this problem before v3.9.1

New additions default to whatever you have filtered under DVD->Add to Collection, Add by Title.

Ok, for me i found the same issue. when adding a new disc by upc it initially showed up as DVD and BluRay (despite i selected also HD DVD in the window tab you pointed out).

i think this one solution is not too smart as it is one thing to look what profiles are available and a different thing to select the media type you want to contribute.

for me it is sometimes DVD, sometimes BluRay... and for both of them i have to uncheck one of the boxes then?!

Isn't it possible to make a Default Setting as proposed?

+1

This is the WORST change made in V3.9.1.

I purchase 99% DVDs, so that is what I want "my" default to be.

But, when adding a disc I like to have all media types selected because sometimes Blu-Ray is the only profile available or the Blu-Ray Profile is much more complete then the DVD profile.

Not a good answer. PLEASE, make this work like it did before, or make it a user selectable option.

Why do I have to first do this (unselect something on the "By Title" page), when I am adding "By Inserted  Disc" and have unchecked "Download Profile From Invelos". I add a Profile by a "DVD disc ID" and the program thinks it is both a "Blu-Ray disc" and a "DVD disc", that is an error, in my opinion.

First, I am running 3.9.1...the latest build.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I just sold off 1,750+/- DVDs and bought over a hundred Blu-rays and a couple DVDs. When I add them via the UPC and it's just a Blu-ray, just Blu-ray is checked; if it includes a DVD then both are checked; if it's just a DVD, that's all that's checked. So unless I missed something, and at 67 that sometimes happens, I don't get it.

Before getting too up in the air, try:
1) Repair Profile Database;
2) Backup the entire database;
3) Create a new database and make it the default;
4) Restore backup to the new database file.

If that doesn't work, then you may have a legitimate problem.

And please, if I have missed something, someone tell me that I'm full of it...I won't get offended.

Thanks for trying to help!!!
You were adding by "UPC" and you don't see a problem
I am adding by "Inserted Disc" to create a disc level profile, and I do see a problem (or quirk)
Now that I know about this "Quirk" I just have to make sure I correct the newly created profile before I lock it down.

Hi there! For me it is also slightly different - i am adding UPCs that doesn't exist so far and cannot be downloaded of the database. For me it is looking just like zappmann showed out...
