So with the slew of these new child profiles, I notice now that a collection number isn't being assigned to them. I would have to go in to each one, check and uncheck the box next to collection number (it's unchecked but the space is blank). Was this how it's always been?

Yup, for me at least. I don't number child profiles usually, so I always make sure to disable them on the personalize page as I'm adding in the cost/date of purchase/etc... info. But they always start out blank, waiting for a number.

I've just tested it by adding a Star Trek Deep Space 9 by title and they all get numbered for me as the program adds them to my download list.

What I've noticed is...if part of a boxset, and asks after you've downloaded the parent if you would like to download these child profiles then there is no number. But if you add a chld profile to download that is not part of a parent/boxset, then there is a number when you down load. Hope this Helps.

There has to be either a setting (which I can't find for the life of me) or a bug because I'm clicking yes to download the children when it asks after adding the parent profile and it adds numbers for me. That's with 'prompt for personalisation' both ticked and unticked and both adding by title or UPC.

The only way I can get it to not automatically add a collection number is by adding to ordered or wishlist and then as soon as I move it to owned the personlisation screen pops up with a collection number assigned.

Here is what I have noticed:

When a child profile is added, the number is blank in the collection list.  If you go to personalize it, the collection number will be filled in with the next available number and the checkbox for "None" is not checked.  If you save the personalization at this point, the collection number will take effect unless it is made blank again before saving.  If you reassign collection numbers, any child profile that does not show a number in the collection list will get a new number if the option "Assign numbers where blank" checkbox is checked, unless the "None" box is checked in the personalization.

I personally prefer to have no number for child profiles unless the child is a different movie title in the same set.  This way, when I do a filtered search, the title in the set will have a number for me to find. I will personalize each same-titled child with the "None" box checked.

Perhaps Invelos can give a checkbox option for "None" in the window that offers to add a child profile. That way it can be selected as the profile is created instead of having to personalize each child profile separately after it is added.  That would save a lot of work when many child profiles are being added at once.

Until then, you might be interested to know: plugin BulkEdit provides Collection>Flagged>Clear Collection#, which has an option to set to none. Runs fast. (There is also a flag Children menu and flag Box Sets menu, if you need them.)

So, the whole procedure would be:
(1) Collection > Flags > Flag Box Sets
(2) unflag any parent profiles you don't want to process
(3) Collection > Flagged > Flag Children (The Box Set parent profile flags are automatically removed)
(4) Collection > Flagged > Clear Collection#

(I see from the following post, you had success!  )

Thank you for that suggestion.  It works very well and allows me to set the "None" checkbox more easily.

Dear all,

I also have a problem with the Child Profiles numbering. I use unique numbering for the child.

Yesterday, I have tried to add a movie to the child profile, by move directly from own to the child. Then when I wanted to get a number, it gave me the first free number of the own profile and not the child. This should be 1, but it gave me 77. Then I tried, t remove the movie to ordered first and then directly the the child and yes, indeed, now it gave me number 1.

But today I did try this again and again, it is giving me the first free number of the own profile, which is 77 and it should be number 1.

Is this a bug or is there somewhere a setting that i missed?

The settings are;
All boxes are de-sellected except; Include contents in owned collection (here Category Options are automatic being sellected and grey) and Unique within category, those 2 are sellected.

Regards,
Hans

This is not a bug.  The program always defaults to the next available number.  If you want it done differently, as you have discovered, you have to change it manually.

Hello MadMartian,

Yesterday, 1 time, it did also like so. Starting with number 1 automaticly. Also why is there then the option, to set the number global or Unique?

If it's not a bug, then it would be a nice option to have it to do so automaticly. programmatically it should be able to do.

Regards,
Hans
