Titles missing from database

In the process of moving and physically re-assembling and sorting my DVD collection, I discovered that numerous titles seemed to be missing from my DVD Profiler database.  After contacting Invelos Support and re-checking the database, all appeared to be in order but I was still missing a bunch of titles that had been entered many months prior.

As I checked the database title for title, I discovered that of approximately 50 missing DVDs, nearly all of the missing entries began with the letters A, B or C.  I have since re-entered the missing titles and all now appears to be stable, but I am curious how or when this might have happened.  Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

@chiefpilot

Unfortunately, you have provided a lot of imprecise information. For example, "re-checking" the database means what? Did you run a report, examine exported data, do a database repair, or what was the nature of the checking?

And of what significance is "nearly all" titles beginning with A, B or C? What were the other letters, and why didn't you think they were important?

Were the missing titles correlated with a gap in collection numbers, a range of purchase or release dates, or anything else to give a clue?

Were the missing titles entered using a mobile app that was not properly synchronized with the desktop?

When you contacted Invelos Support, did they analyze your database or provide any clues?

Have you run a database repair recently?

Have you checked prior backups (you should have at least a couple) to confirm your belief that those DVDs were ever saved as part of the database (notice I didn't say entered)?
Thanks for your support.

Actually, you didn't. The question was if anyone else had experienced it. Answering "no" means that nobody has. You cannot possibly know that.

Your questionable analysis of language is an embarrassing meta-discussion. You should be ashamed.

@chiefpilot:
First of all: welcome to the Asylum (some of the posts above will demonstrate why I would call it that).

While I don't know why your A-B-C entries went missing, I would like to recommend that you make frequent backups of your collection (File / Backup database). This creates a .dpb file. Store it somewhere safe.

If anything similar were to occur again, you'll be able to restore the backup instead of having to re-enter the affected titles.

Happy collecting!

Dear bbbbb,

I think most of the people here know which one of us two that should be ashamed.

But I'll agree that you did reply, but not that you answered the question. The op still doesn't know if anyone has experienced it. He only knows that you haven't. Totally unhelpful. But not unexpected.

How pitiful. Age, missing the wisdom.

Quite a good summary. I wonder, though, why there is more interest in discussing my person than the orginal poster's technical issue.
