Would there be a way to make/export a list of all of my DVD's that I now have as HD or Blu-ray?

Would there be a way to do this inside of DVD Profiler? Or with it and/or a third-party app/script?  I know I can go through my list of everything and create a flag group, but I have thousands of titles, so that is pretty tedious.

(Another complication I imagine is, many titles are combos -- contain both HD-DVD/Blu-ray and DVD.)

Thank you.

My tool DoubleDips could be useful, see this thread.

Note that it lists all duplicated titles, so if you for example have two DVDs of the same title they will be listed as well. Also, combos are considered only as their main media, i.e. a BD/DVD combo is only counted as a Bluray.

If you need a tool that specifically lists only upgrades, it wouldn't be too difficult for me to develop such a tool for you. Just let me know.

Thanks, Gunnar!!  No, what you described sounds perfect.  I'll definitely check it out.  Thanks again!

Ok, so I checked it out.  (Great job by the way, very cool.)  HOWEVER, I did run into a few issues and subsequently have a few questions for you ...

1) When I import my exported collection, I get a couple of (long) error window pop-ups (System.NullReferenceException: ....) It mentions Visual Studio, so an educated guess would be I might not have an required update to VS.  I couldn't copy/paste the text in the two dialogue boxes, but if you want to see them I could do a screen cap.  The other is a "System.ArgumentNullException:Value cannot be null.  Parameter name:source ..."

2) But, it appears to work.  It says 391 profiles loaded ... I am assuming "loaded" means the ones that are duplicates, and is not referring to the total in my library, correct?

3) Where does it save the flag set?  It does not give you the option (I would humbly suggest there be an option).  I checked in both the folder where I put your app and the location of the xls file that was imported, it is not in either.

4) Is there a way to get a count of JUST the titles that are duplicated?  The 391 is the total number of titles loaded (which is including the duplicates) ... can I get a count of just the dupes?  Although maybe the flag set export maybe does this?  (Then I can just let Profiler give me the count of course.)

Thanks!

I'd like to find out what's going wrong, so if you can email me your export file what would be great. You've got my email address in a PM.

"Profiles loaded" refers to the total number of profiles read from the export file.

The Visual Studio references you see in the error message refers to my source code, so it's not anything that is missing on your side.

The flag set is saved in Profiler's default flag directory, which normally is C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\DVD Profiler\Flags, so you should see it if you select Collection/Flags/Load Set in DVD Profiler. It contains only the titles that you have checked in DoubleDips, so it's not ideal for getting a list of all upgrades.

I do have a working prototype for a program that specifically lists the titles that have been upgraded from DVD to Blu-ray (or DVD/Blu-ray to 4K). It needs a some spit and polish to be ready for public consumption, but I'd be happy to finish it for you. But first I want to find out what goes wrong in DoubleDips so we don't end up with the same problem in this new program.

Will do.  Look for that a bit later today/tonight.  Been working on some projects all night and need to get some shut-eye, but will be in touch.  The new program sounds great.  Maybe I can help beta it for you.  Thanks!

I wonder what happened to Timoteo. He seemed keen to find out what went  wrong in DoubleDips, and also to beta a new program. But he has been MIA for two weeks. Strange.

I hope nothing bad has happened to him.

Well he uploaded his collection on 20 August. And it's still holiday season in many places.
