This isn't a topic about whether or not to submit a profile with another genre along with Documentary (I won't), but am curious if others do.

Rarely, but sometimes I do. Mostly "Music", for documentaries like Ron Howard's 'Eight Days a Week', a documentary on The Beatles' touring years. In such a case, "Documentary" and "Music" both seem very appropriate.

I think any documentary about any war that it would be sensible to include the War Genre.

I agree with sometiimes. And I for one see no reason to submit them on those that it works for.

Sometimes, like Sports, Music or War, if the documentary deals with such topics.  I have a number that are marked Television, but that isn't really a genre and I wish there was another field for that information.

I do, however, HATE seeing "Special Interest" as a companion genre and remove it locally every time.  It's such a vague term, and could realistically apply to every film out there.  Personally, I wish that it was defined in the rules as "anything that doesn't fit in another genre."
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Sometimes for me as well, in combination with Music, War or occasionally Sports. Television may come in as well, although I agree that in fact this is not a genre and should have a different field.

In profiler I have all of them as documentaries and - if availabe - with adds like war, music, sports and so on. But when my collection - and the number of documentaries in it - was groing I had to find a way to separate them, at least in a list.

So parallel to profiler I got all my movies in Excel. This had a load of reasons from average price to counting the running time and so on, and this way I simply gave the documentaries another column to show their differences like: Animals, History, War, Film & TV, Astronomy and so on.

To transfer this ideo into profiler you could simply use tags! If you then want to filter, you even don't need the genre-filter anymore but could simply use the tags to just filter all movie- or war-docus
