| Posted: | | | | I am thinking, what an easy way it would be to enter a new DVD title using a UPC scanner -- simply scan the code on the box and have that propagate the Add DVD by UPC field. BUT, before I run out and spend 30 bucks on a scanner, will DVDProfiler allow that kind of input? If not, is there a plugin for such a function?
If anyone has tried this and made it work, I'd love to hear from you.

| Posted: | | | | Yes it does work, provided the scanner can act like a keyboard, i.e. transmit the barcode data like someone is typing in the numbers via keyboard. I've been using one for years | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

For single titles, buy the DVD Profiler android app[1] and add title by scanning the code, synchronize with PC, done. For multiple items you can also get a upc scanning app that can output multiple codes as a textfile, send it to your PC and import that into DVD Profiler. cya, Mithi [1] or the iOS app, although I don't know if it has the same functionality, but I'd guess yes. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

Because of ze German efficiency. No photo barcode app can do this: | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Yeah, 2018-now I bought 6 titles And for doing an inventory taking my barcode-app would slaughter your scanner because I can go to the discs instead of schlepping them to the computer. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

I use my Surface laptop and can scan entire shelves in one go and then run one mass check against the collection. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I don't have to schlep them to my computer as my barcode scanner is wireless. |

| Posted: | | | | I have a CueCat scanner that used to work nicely, but now fails to scan UPC code properly with desktop program (4.0)
Really bummed and not sure why it stopped working. It works fine with other sites I use it with, like LibraryThing. |

What happens if you open a simple text editor like Notepad or Wordpad and simply scan a UPC? Do the numbers appear in the text? Then it should still work with DVDP. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
